I have done a search, but need help with remote start and 5 spd
I did a search and read several threads on putting remote start on a five speed on both maxima.org and the SE-R mail list but I can't find the info I need.
If I understand correctly, there is a neutral safety switch that can be utilized to make sure the car is not started in gear. Can somebody clarify and point me to the thread so I can learn how to so do?
Thanks,
Rich

My buddy has one where you have to park the car and whack the FOB button. At this point he takes they key out of the ignition, the starter keeps the car running and he leaves the car. (still running, on the parking brake) He whacks the button again, the doors lock and the car shuts down. This is an all-in-one security / starter thingy.
If the system detects that a door has opened it refuses to start the car. If he forgets something in the car and has to go back in he has to restart the car and re-stop it.

Yeah, it sucks, but it beats having to pay for a new front bumper 2 or 3 times a year.
He can go back in the car while it's still running, before whacking the FOB a second time.
The only thing the starter is trying to do is make sure the car was left in neutral when it was shut off. If you want to be an idiot and leave, let's say, the window down and slip it in to first without the car knowing, then it's your fault. It's a better-safe-than-sorry sort of thing.
