XM Antenna (Permanent Mount)

Well, I have researched every were I can think of and I'm coming up with nothing. I have a 2003 SE with an Alpine deck that I'm waiting on my XM reciever. I want to put a permanent roof mount antenna on my car that does not have the pigtail on it like the Terk antennas. Mounting the antenna on the rear rear shelf is not an option because of my tint. How come no one makes a permanent mount antenna like we see on the GM, BMW and other vehicles. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free.

Thanks,
Shane

Somewhat related, but there was a member here who pulled apart the housing on an XM roof mount antenna, and mounted it inside the rear spoiler. You couldn't even see the antenna and it worked perfectly. You might want to try the car audio forum and see if you can find it.

I remember that post, I'm only afraid that the metallic paint on the spoiler might cause a problem.
I tried the search funtion to find that post but not having any luck.

Why not try the dashboard above the clock. At least you won't have to worry about your paint.

Really would like to try and stay away from the dash if possible. I did think about possibly mounting inside the back glass ( Top of window, double sided tape), but haven't ever heard of anyone trying this.

the 04 max that came with XM. has the anntenna between the rear glass and in the middle of the trunk lid. just buy the part from the 04 maxima.you need an anntenna anyway. or that piece or thing could be the navi annt but, I don't think it is navi annt , check it out.

Metallic tint, Terk still has the pigtail coming off of it that I'm trying to get away from. The 04 Max's that I've seen with XM all have the Terk antenna on the roof with the pigtail going down to the rear glass. If anyone has a different pic, I would like to see it.

Metallic tint acts as a barrier between the signal and your antenna, thus why in most cases it degrades the quality of the reception. This is also one of the reasons people complain that "XM sucks" or "Sirius sucks" - when asked how they mounted their equipment, the antenna is usually inside the cabin and they normally have dark metallic tint all around.

Saw a new Audi S6 and it had a 3-4 inch high antenna on the rear roof. It was shaped like a fin, thought it looked really cool, not sure if it is xm though.
