HID H3's retrofit
HID H3's retrofit
I hope I can get some feedback on this topic. I want to change my stock foglights out and put the retrofit HID H3's in place to match my headlights which are HID. IGOR911 has some , but what I want to know is 1. Do you have to modify the reflector inside and 2. Does it blind the oncoming drivers? Boheman makes some nice ones and they state that there are no modifications necessary to the housing, but they don't say anything about glare. I'd hate to spend that kind of money and not be able to use them because I blind everyone coming towards me. I need input from anyone who has HID H3's or who knows people who do have them.
Thanks, Shawn

I have done a few retrofits myself in the past 2 years. This is the first thing you have to look for....Make SURE! That you don't have to bend the reflector. This will cause massive glare to on coming traffic and maybe even a ticket. Worse yet if you get in an accident and the driver claims they couldn't see because of your fogs thats cause for a law suite. Anyhow the H3 bulb is the smallest of all halogens. This makes it hard to convert a D2R bulb into one. But of course it has been done. The problem with alot of the products out there is that you don't get a good beam pattern. The last problem with HID's in the fogs is that bright white/blue light is the worst for rain. The more yellow the bulb the better it cuts through rain. Of course it looks a hell of alot better having your fogs match your headlights. Over this winter I'm going to retrofit a D2R bulb made by Philips. Its rated at 3000k which is pure yellow. That should make the perfect fog light. For a ton more info check out HIDforum.com
