How Do I Know...

Did you just purchase the car? If you did not buy it within the last month and a half, your car did not have the recall done on it. Also, unless someone took them off, you should have "Protected by Data Dots" stickers on your headlights and the front windows. Other than that, you can't tell just by looking at the headlights.

clue 1: is there a data-dots sticker?
clue 2: if you open the hood can you look at the back of the lights and see a metal bracket?
or, make the dealer prove it by showing you the data-dots (or get a magnifying glass )

You trust Saturn dealers?? Sheesh... aside from the fact that now all their cars are butt-fugly, I wouldn't step foot in one of those dealers.
Face it, all dealers suck - some more than others, some less than others.

I called my salesman Tuesday and asked him why he told me that I had datadots and the brackets when I fact I did not. After a couple of "er's" and some more "um's", he told me to come in for retrofitting.
I saw him this morning during the installation and he said that he 'assumed' that no Maxima walks off without these recalls installed (mine did and so did a lady who came back today with no headlights after purchasing her 2003 in September). But then I thought about the day I picked up my car and waited an hour for it to be 'detailed' and checked for these and other recalls. I was about to ask him about that but then I decided not to hear another lie or excuse. It would only make me more upset.
