Silverstar Bulbs...??

I'm about to buy some Sylvania Silverstar H4's for my 2003 Maxima foglights...any prior experience or reviews on these bulbs before I go out and spend $$ on them? Speak now or forever hold your peace. Thanks!!

Silverstars are bright and expensive compared to other good bulbs. Tell you what, go to circuit city and by some eurolite super plasma xenons for cheaper. Get the ones with the purple glass coating. It's not purple but really white with a little hint of light light blue. And it let's out 30% more lumens. trust me, I'm using them for my 1993 Nissan Maxima.

I like them... they look really good IMHO. Definitely a compromise between "ricer" bulbs (i.e. overly bluish) and ugly yellow stock bulbs...
Just not sure if they were worth the $$, as I never compared them to other mainstream brands (e.g. GE HO, Sylvania's XtraVision line, etc.) to see if they make that huge of a difference...

wait nm, just noticed you're talking about foglights...

Foglights use H3 bulbs, not H4.

The Extreme Whites Look Better Of Course. The Driver side is the Xtreme White,
While the Passanger Side is the Stock.

they are nice. and if you have SilverStar headlights like myself, they are a perfect match. much whiter that stock headlights and tons whiter that stock/yellow fogs.

all depends on what you are looking for. you can get some that might match your HIDs alot better - SilverStars are white (no blue).

you can also get cheaper white fogs as well. from ebay for example.

and yes, they are kind of expensive...but then again, not nearly as expensive as PIAAs and other popular bulbs. again, i think it just depends on what you're looking for.

Our foglights use H3.

Although I personally wouldn't use Sylvania Silverstars, in regards to their headlight bults, the U.S. version of them is 20% brighter than stock halogens, whereas PIAA superwhite is 10% LESS bright than stock.

arn't the fog bulbs based on wattage. i think stock fogs are like 50W...so H3 - 50W. i've seen cheapos on ebay for up to 65W. i assume you could use those to hope for an even brighter bulb. anyone verify that?

also, for those of you who are using other bulbs (PIAA, hyper whites, etc) what $ are we talking? and where from?

The ones from circuit city arent that good IMO. Bought a set this evening cause my JCWhitney bulb burnt out (I scratched it putting it in, my fault) so I replaced the burnt out one with the one from circuit city.... not even a close match. Circuit Cities bulb is way more yellow. Looks pretty bad... i'll post a pic in a few

Here's the pic: The Passenger side is the JCWhitney, drivers side is Circuit City. Huge difference eh? Its worse in person too

And with the headlights on: (not quite as noticable, still apparent tho)

Stock fogs are 35W.

55W is the typical aftermarket wattage I believe...

The JCWhitney bulbs are on this page:
http://jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/stor...&storeId=10101

Find the "Xenon" 55 Watt ones: those are them. Match my HID's really, really well, wish I could get a better picture
