drive belt

how am i suppose to remove the drive belt on 2000 maxima?
the tensioner wont move when i loosen the tensioner bolt.

Is there a bolt in the middle of the pulley? That bolt would have to be loosend before the assembly will slide.

the problem is the idler pulley wont slide up even after i have loosed that bolt.
are there any other bolts?

You're welcome. Other than a bolt that holds down the adjusting bracket, I don't know of any other bolts that need to be loosened. Some tensioners have the sliding part attached to the tensioning and loosening bolt where they are joined together. Good luck.

Just the locking nut on the front of the pulley. You are using the adjusting
bolt on top to loosen the belt right -- not just trying to manually slide it?

after 3 hours of elbow grease and half can of wd40, i was finally able to loosen the bolt holding in the idler pulley. what a pain. installation took no longer than 5 minutes.
