Help the Kid out

Yeah, i wanted to know if any other of you 00 01 auto guy's thinks that our tranny downshifts really slow? I wanna know if this is normal or is it just my car because when i give it about half throttle in 1st and second gear, im looking for it to downshift quicker but it just keeps rising till about 3 and a half rpms then drop. Also, curising at highway speeds at like 60, it will stay hung at like 2 and a half rpms then just all of a sudden drop a little later. Dealer replaced Solenoid and put in a new drop resistor, but i don't know if they reprogrammed the tcm. Could this be the problem. Also, i have no low end power till about 3k. Does the transmission affect the power that drastically?? Just replaced spark plugs, new air filter and ran cheveron techron through tank, and yes, i use citgo 93 PREMIUM. It just seems like tha max has lost all peppines whatsoever. This car is getting on my nerves. It will run good for like a week and then boom, it feels powerless. Im out of powertrain warranty by 200 miles but i got all of the reciepts for the tranny issues that i had with the dealer. What could be the problem, any help, please?? Im only 18 and i really don't wanna have to go through the hassle of hearing my parents say that i don't take care of the car because i do baby it. I would just like for it to drive and run like it's supposed to.

I don't have an answer for you specifically as I drive a MT but you could call a different dealer and ask if its normal practice to reprogram the TCM after they've replaced the solenoid. Then confirm that it was done with your dealer.

Also when you talk about power I'm assuming you are referring to the aptly named Butt-Dyno. These are very unreliable. There are many reference dynos on the dyno forum for your car. Get your car done on a properly setup dyno and compare them. Then you will have something that is objective to show your dealer.

Lastly, I thought a lot of people got Don's VB mod to overcome the late shifting issue. This is another item to consider but I'd wait till after the warranty ran out.

Hope this helps.

Im not talking about dyno, im talking about from what i feel. At first it was cool, then when i got in the car again last night it felt like i was driving on 5 cylinders or something. Usually when i would lightly give the throttle the same pressure in first gear, it would shift at like 2k rpms, now the rpm's rise highter when i give it give it throttle but there's not much power. And on the reciept, they said nothing about reprogramming the tcm.

I have the same problem. I have talked with a few friends and they told me the torque converter on our auto doesn't allow for full "engagment" until 3000+RPM. As far as the lack of power. I have the same issue. It doesn't even put me back in the seat like it used to. I am going to change my plugs/fuel filter/ change tranny fluid. If that doesn't work. My 100,000mi warranty should come in handy.

I already got the plugs and tranny fluid changed but didnt get the fuel filter changed cuz the mechanic was faking talking about i don't need it changed because it was in the gas tank.(i think he was being lazy) But will this help out with the power loss if i change the fuel filter??
