Conversation with LOSER HID thief selling on Ebay!!!

That would require cops to know each and every car that comes with factory HIDs......I mean some guys with 2k2-3 maxes have 2k-1 tails, so cops might think THEY have aftermarket HIDs....

Obviously selling stolen ones is, but is selling "non-stolen" ones illegal too?

Even though ebay is international, they may prohibit the sale of HID components on their site if they know the components are illegal within the US (They may at least prohibit buying/selling within US). Im am still working on this with ebay and will kep everyone updated.

It's a matter of the police knowing/enforcing the law. When was the last time you saw someone get a ticket for jayalking? A law is only as effective as it's enforcement.

There IS a law and police ARE empowered to give tickets for aftermarket HID kits. It's the same law that allows them to give tickets for slick tires, etc. They are not DOT compliant.

Only problem is...a 2k2-3 HID sold on ebay is not, technically, aftermarket...it's a DOT-approved HID light....all the seller has to do is "assume" it will be put onto a 2k2-3 Maxima, where it is "standard" vice "aftermarket".....
Now on the other hand, a non-Nissan OEM HID made by a different "aftermarket" company would be illegal...
Ok, that's my last word on this...I don't even HAVE HIDs....just trying to contribute to the discussion....

Of course, there is a very small chance that he is legit.
