2k2-3 owners please read! Recall info...

As all of you know there is a recal for the Crank Engine sensor- I just got my vehicle back from the Service department @ Flemington Nissan (great serviceSo I asked Steve (service manager) for a few answers- hope this is helpfull....

* this recall involves replacing three (not one) sensors in the timing system that have been updated

* recall was also extended across other Nissan vehicles (Murano, Alty, he mentioned)

* Nissan owners where experiencing : 1) Car wouldn't start, 2) Car would shut
down (limp mode) during driving periods

* I asked him also about MAF problems and he responded that there have been many more problems due to these sensors than MAF problems (very few)

* I also inquired on what I should do about the brake problem (jutter) and he told me to bring back the car before 36K and the rotors are fully replaceable under 36k warranty!

I also got the Datadot/brackets done- stickers aren't that bad!

Oh I forgot- the misconception that some org members have (that have had post recall power loss/problems) had something to do with the ECU-

he mentioned the ECU "does not" get flashed/reprogrammed for this procedure!

I know that they have to change the engine crank position and cam position sensors, but what is the third one?

It only took a little over a hour for mine to get done, but I had to wait ten days for a appointment.
At first it seemed to have less power , but now I think it's ok.

no the crank angle sensor has nothing to do with that noise.

Anyone with an 02 or 03 have the "lack of power " tsb done (this is the one where they re-flash your ECM).
I asked about it when I had mine in and he said it didn't apply to my car but said he would check to make sure, nothing was noted on service receipt, just engine sensor kit.

I thought the lack of power TSB was for 2k-2k1's......Although there have been some org members that have had problems with accelerator pedal sensor

I also had the recall done, bout 3 weeks ago. It took roughly 1.5 hours and there were no problems. Car runs same after as it did before. Course I had to inform the Nissan dealership that there even was a recall out... but thats ok, I'm well informed

Do you have pics of the brackets ? HID theft is not a problem here, but I plan to travel on the East Coast this summer.

Thanks

NTB03-023 is for 2002-2003 Nissan Maximas and Altimas with the 3.5L VQ35DE engine...

That's the lack of power/hesitation TSB that is being referred to.

You and 2k3TitaniumSe should go to Woodfield Nissan in Hoffman Estates for this and and the transverse links tsb. I had those two and the fogged up headlight tsb service, and also had my brake judder/pulse problem remedied, they resurfaced the rotors free of charge, under warranty.

See my experience below at

If your VIN falls within the range of JN1DA*1**2T 000002 - 454681, you are covered under the engine sensor recall.

I had the cam and crank replaced last week. Now the intake solenoid is bad. They told me , that Nissan was sold a bad batch of sensors, which they used on all Nissans.....that is the reason for the recall. The symptoms Manny listed are correct. My car went into limp mode twice, and finally shut down, and wouldnt start.
