I think my MAF just went south

Ok this morning I had full on power and NO PROBLEMS. I get in my car after work, start my drive home, floor it to pass someone, the damn car starts to "miss" and wouldnt pull past 4500RPM. I went and changed the plugs which have been in there for 79605K. I have noticably more low/mid-end power(only place Ill pull) now. But Ill be damned if I cant get er' over 5K,...she just stays @5K and STRUGGLES to go higher. She actually bounces around in the upper 4K to low 5K RPM area. Now Im not 110% sure its my MAF cuz when Im NOT moving in P or N and I REV it it will get up there as normal, but as soon Im in 1,2,or D she just wont get up there.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!! I need to get this fixed ASAP. Im doing my oil change tomorrow. The brake pads, fuel INJ. cleaning,& fuel filter will all be done at the DEALER.

so it happened right after you change the plugs?
if so, did you gap the plugs? all the bolts are tightened? plugs are torqued correctly?

if it is your coil, you will hear pinging and misfiring can happen. Any cel?

you can test your MAF's return voltage by tapping a wire to the MAF return wire and monitor the voltage return in all rpm range with a test meter. The color of the return wire is whit. IIRC

No this happened before I did the plugs. I was wanting to change them anyway. I had bad plugs in my SAAB and it was doing pretty much the same thing, so I figured Ide better get the plugs swapped ASAP. The car was fine in the morning when I drove to work,...8hrs later shes dead.

MY CEL/SES was "flickering" in the morning, but the car ran fine and pulled hard. Think the SES light flashed on/off about 3-5 times. After that I havent seen it again.

Peace
Justin

flickering CEL means misfire. did this happene before you changed the plugs? did you gap the plugs? too much gap will cause cylinder misfire.

If I'm reading this right, it sounds like you NVIS isn't working. Check your vacuum connections around your driver's side intake area. There should be a 4"x4" black box with 2 vacuum hose connections. Make sure both are hooked up and aren't pinched. It's possible you disconnected it while changing your plugs. Peace_

gap too large will make engine misfire.
