I'm sorry, I can't help you, nor can most of these peeps, but I can help you by saying that you are posting on a 5th gen. thread. You should try posting on the 4th gen forum, plus, its like your posting a thread with in a thread which will give you a less chance of it being read. PEACE!

Its true, Tokico HP/Blues and KYB GR2 are soft shocks, in comparison to the Illuminas or AGX. With any drop in the stock springs, there is reduced shock travel, and with softer shocks, they lead to premature wear. With a more aggressive drop, you would want a more aggressive shock, to combat bottoming out. However, a lower drop will cause additional wear on any shock, but will cause a softer shock to wear out faster. i.e Blue/HP will wear out faster than Illuminas with the same spring. Tokico Blue/HP and KYB GR2 are more aimed as a OEM replacement, but if you must pick a spring to go with those shocks, H&R and Eibach will be the best as they drop the car less than other brands.

ok so with maxspeeds it seem most people like the stock shocks, they seem fairly stiff so does that mean illuminas and maxspeeds would be a good combo?

maxspeeds and illuminas would be a good combo, i think a lot of people have that combo and is what i'm probably going to get.

JICs drop anywhere from 0-4" because they are coilovers, so you can adjust the height of the drop

Just curious....according to your website, you are currently running Progress; are you looking to change to a different spring??

S-Techs are way too low for me and Progress looked a little weird at the rear. So I went for Maxspeeds w/ Blues.

I repeat, Maxspeeds are not stiff! Maxspeeds and H&R's have the smoothest softest ride. They also do not lower enough for most people. I would like Maxspeed ride quality with another .75 to 1" drop but that ain't gonna happen.

As noted in previous threads, Tein S Tech is a low drop that destroys struts and if you live in an area with bad roads, consult a doctor before installing them.

Maxspeeds + Illuminas, as of this coming friday.

Combined with my RSB, FTSB, and LTB, (and Stage 1 SFC soon), I expect this setup to provide the ultimate compromise between great handling and great ride...

that, and it'll keep me still looking sleeper on the outside...nice subtle drop.

I have a 2k max and I want to do the coil spring upgrades.
Since I live in NYC, the roads are unbearable!
I read all your replies and figured that Maxspeeds are the best for AM.

PLEASE give me your opinion for the best combo for a 2k max in NYC. ALso provide a site cause I am having no luck finding maxspeeds site.

I voted a long time ago, but now I need to change my vote...take one away from "stock" and add one to "Eibach"
I love them - the look and the way they ride and handle.
You can see pics on page 2 of my homepage if you want to see it

I'm with BattleMax, I'm looking for an even drop, not too harsh, with enough room for my 19's. Which spring handles better, has smoothest ride, with the best drop, the Maxspeed, or the Tein H's ? Any and all input would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

i want s techs so bad......how often would you have to replace the strut? i'd imagine there's really no strut for our max that's made for 2.2" drop huh

Check out Housecor's site.... I found it useful when I picked out my struts/springs... I went with Tokico HPs/Progress but they're not installed yet....

Eibach + stock strut + 18"X 8 EVO + Sarona body kit = big wheel gap

Eibach + ??? strut + 18" x 8 EVO + Sarona body kit + 15mm wheel spacer = Solution

Please do the math for me, what kind of strut is needed to get rid of the gap. I'm

looking for 0.5" ~ 0.8" more drop or else my front bumper will be snow plower

I think with coilovers you can adjust the drop, but as for struts... Illuminas maybe? I know you can adjust the stiffness, but I'm not sure how much of the drop you can change, or if ya even can....

Just dump the Eibachs and get Progress or S-Techs with Illuminas....

I finally made up my mind, I'm going for H&R and Illumina's. I want the smoothest ride possible, I need to keep my car usable for driving with friends and family, and still have a little fun too !!

OK, consider that I am still stock and I want just a bit of a drop without sacrificing a nice, smooth ride, which combination should I go with? I know there is an eibach pro-kit for sale in the classifieds, but how much would I have to spend after that on shocks/struts, and which work the best with the eibachs or H&R's?

The Eibachs and H&Rs don't drop the car as much as some of the other springs, so Tokico HPs or KYB GR-2s will be good enough since they're like OEM, but around 10% stiffer... if you want adjustablility in terms of ride quality, then go with Tokico Illuminas, KYB AGXs, or Koni Yellows...

Btw, even though the struts determine the harshness most of the time, certain combos of struts and Eibachs have been known to be harsh. In saying that, its all personal preference... so harsh to someone may not be harsh to another...

See Housecor's site for more info... http://www.innerbean.com/housecor/sp..._decision.html
