My 2 week old 2001 Maxima SE/AE with the single cd Bose radio does not take a disk in first thing in the morning. After a few minutes in the sun it works perfect. Maybe it is the cold out here on Long Island. Has anyone ever had this problem? I am thinking about having it fixed with my first oil change in a few weeks if it doesn't go away.
Otherwise, the Max is great. Traded in an Audi A4q and love the Max; more power and room.
Thanks all

never had any such problem...but it makes sense to assume that it has to do with the cold. Also, maybe there is condensation getting in there somehow....get it checked out....

Also, congrats on the new Max....

Read your owner's manual... I believe that is documented as normal behavior.

its in the owners manual. Normal thing if you have a lot of moisture in the car.

I've had that problem with the cd deck in my Max and the Kenwood deck I put in my old Honda. It's totally normal.

I had the same problem with my 2k1 AE when it was new. I brought it in to look at by the dealer but we could not simulate the problem. The service manager used a cd-r which does not always work on the Bose system because the cd-r is sometimes a little different in thickness. The manuel does not recommend using cd-r's on the bose system.

I never had that problem b4. Only problem I had was the disc skipping sometimes but a little cleaning job got rid of that.
Come to think of it, I havent used the tape deck once since I bought my car.

Haven't had the problem yet...but my max is only 1 month old. I use burned cd's in the dash and in the changer, the bose doesn't seem to have a problem with them.

Nice Choice John.

Are u on the south shore? It's a bit more humid on the south shore which could cause condensation. Some CDR's also cause problems. I'm out on LI on the w/e hope to see ya w/ my AE

Haulin,
I am up on the North Shore about 1/2 mile from the sound in Setauket. I haven't had the problem with the cd player again. Hopefully I bump into out there on the world's largest parking lot... the LIE!

Thanks everyone for all your input and help!!

Hey jtred1, dont worry about it, just like you mentioned it is cause by the cold weather,( the cd unit needs few minute to warm in cold weather ) I lived in MTL and it does the same thing once in a while, it was also happening on my 98SE.

So there is nothing to fix.

Cheers

CD Trouble

Yea, they are right. Moisture will cause this as well as a cd burned over 650mb which will cause a error on some cd players and won't allow them to play. Try not to use disks 700mb or higher if the trouble is from burned cd's, if not make sure your vehicle has warmed for a while before inserting your cd.
