Help with hesitation Pleez!!

Here is my problem.... I have 2000 SE that hesitates (for some reason mostly in 1st gear)... By looking at my Spark Plugs it looks like it's running rich... I don't have a Check Engine Light on... Also If I'm in park and rev it to about 3500 and let off the car sometimes stalls or comes close to stalling... After about 4000 rpm it feels like the car has backpressure... Also it also seems to stutter every now and then... I'm think MAF but I don't know much about the Maxima's... Could it be a O2?? I figured if it was O2 the CEL would be on... Any help would be greatly apreciated..

I would be interested in finding out what the culprit is. I have also been having a hesitation problem when the engine is cold and at low rpm in first gear. I haven't had a chance to investigate what the problem is yet. The only thing I can think of that changed prior to this not being a problem is that I had the ECU reprogrammed to fix the 0420 catalyst error. Before that, it never had a problem.
