Stock maxima headlights from a 2000 max are H4... H4 is a dual filament bulb. H3 is a single filament bulb. Thus you will have to do some wiring with relays and such to get the high beam working I believe.

You're far more an expert on these lights than you give yourself credit.

hmmm... okay, I get feeling that we ordered from different places maybe? I bought mines from symmic corporation or something like that. The total price came out to $310 with shipping. You think it was the same place we bought it from? If not, then it makes sense as to why I had never received a tracking #. Let me know in any case.

By the way guys... This company has a webpage where you can buy them directly... The link directly to the page for the headlights is...

http://www.symmic.com/index.asp?Page...ROD&ProdID=586

They also sell the black housing w/ clear lenses taillights:

http://www.symmic.com/index.asp?Page...ROD&ProdID=480

And also the all clear housing and lenses:

http://www.symmic.com/index.asp?Page...ROD&ProdID=572

I'm glad we finally have some headlights and taillight options!!! Their prices are awesome too... about half the price OEM taillights cost new. They need to make some black housing headlights now, as well as some black housing with red lense brake and blinker taillights... those would sell like hotcakes...

I sent the guys at symmic.com an inquiry into the wiring/whether a harness is included, and what types of bulbs they use (even though most of us have determined H3).

Yeah I didnt order mine from symmic, the user on Ebay was something like sprinter1982. But I know it wasnt symmic. So thats all I know.

Also, is the H4 bulb also the 9003 bulb. If so, could you also buy H3 Xenons to fit in these projectors?

The I35 ones look okay... But would have looked better IMO if it was projector style lighting.

Has anyone emailed the company to see if they are willing to make one for us 2k2 2k3 guys that have HIDs? So we dont have to modify these current ones.

the i30 ones don't look like they put too much thought into making them. the put the halos over the reflector which isn't all that great of an idea. the focus on the beam would be off and there would be dark spots caused by that.

Ok guys. I got my headlights today. I put one on and snapped a few pics for you guys to have a look at. One thing i noticed is that there is a gap between the bottom of the headlight and the top of the bumper on the front end. Please pay no attention to the filth on my car...

Thx. I want these babies bad, but want to check out the beam pattern first. Hope they look like the Honda S2000 pattern ( Nice side and front cut-off line ).

IMO, I think they look more aggresive than the stock HIDs.

How is the wiring setup on the headlights? Is it for a h4/h3 or HID bulb? Does it use 2 seperate bulbs (hi/lo)? How is the overall quality of the lights did them come with instructions or new harnesses?

Thanks
Robert

The projector and high beam both have that H3 bulb in there. The wiring is also setup for halogen use. The orange you see is a bulb, there is no plastic lens there. Im not going to set it up for halogen use.

Questions Re: projector headlights

First of all, thank you should go out to the Maxima bretheren who spearheaded the purchase of these headlights for the broke and curious of us! Thank you!

I am sure that tons of questions have come out of this so if I have repeated something please forgive me.

1. I was wondering if there are any night shots circulating around yet?

2. PhxBlue, do you foresee that gap or spacing to be a problem? Can it be corrected somehow?

3. Is there a "how-to" install these lights posted anywhere?

4. Has anyone painted the housing to black yet and posted pictures?

Again thank you so much for sharing guys.

The gap that you mention do you think that these lights are based off the 2k/2k1 lamp. I know there's a gap when 2k2/2k3 users replace their Hids with 2k lights. Is that the same gap? If it's the same then it would be a better fit on 2k/2k1 right? Thanks again

Robert

First off... unless they supplied a wiring harness and such, you will need to wire your high beam with a relay to the positive terminal of your bat in order for it to work.

Second... PhxBlue, are you going to retro a HID projector in there? Please say yes, the beam pattern will be horrible with HID in that projector.

those look a bit ricey to me, but they are cheaper than 2k2 head lights, if i had a 2k, i would try them out, if not then sell it back on ebay, but ive learned from my old 240sx, you get what you paid for, no cheap imitation is gonna touch my 03 maxima!!!!
probably crack or fog up after awhile.

Ok lets see if we cant get a GD going for around $200. Thanks PhxBlue for all the pics and info. I think a HID based Projector should be no problem at all to fit in there. I like the look of the stock 2k2 HIDs better but the out put of a projector is just too tempting.

Theres so much filth on your car, I just nutted on myself. Those lights look hot man, thanks for buying them and showing us. BTW, I think the gaps may be there since the 2k-2k1 bumbers are different from the 2k2-2k3... I think.

Nice pics.

Thanks PhxBlue for being the pioneer

I think it looks quite good, but can't tell how good it really looks with 2k3 light next to it. It would better if both were installed.

In any case, if there is any GD for this I will surely be in it.
