Throttle body cleaning
How much would you guys pay for this? And how long should it take? I know that I could probably do this myself...but I just don't have the time and I'm sure that it needs to be done.
Also, my car seems to hesitate and sputter when I first crank it up in the mornings. It only does this when it has been sitting for several hours (like overnight) and quits doing it after a couple minutes. Any ideas what that might be?

expect to pay between $60-$100 to get it done. kinda a waste of money when you just need the cleaner ($5) and a little time.
the sputter is because it is cold so its normal. thats why it stops when it warms up.

If you do this yourself, make sure you get throttle body cleaner for approved for fuel injected engines. I was in line at the parts store when I noticed there were two different ones. Not sure what the other would do, but it can't be good.

Seriously, don't pay for this. All you have to do is loosen the clamp on the intake manifold, spray the cleaner on a cloth rag and wipe it clean. Hold the throttle open top and bottom and wipe as much as you can. It will only take about 10 minutes.

an accountant who doenst see the value of a dollar....anyone else see the irony, itll take longer to drive to the daeler and wait for them to tell you all sorts of BS about everyting else wrong with the car then to spend 10 minutes on cleaning the TB yourself

if you do it with the valve closed, the cleaner doent get into the engine. actually, i think ive even sprayed it in there with that open and never had a problem. just a little hesitation at start up but after a few seconds everything is fine

I will install pulleys during April... so i might tell to my mechanic cleaning my TB and my intake too... and maybe to install my clear signal lights!!
so around $120 all together? what do you guys think...

I just did this yesteday. Went to Pep Boys and bought the Gumont brand cleaner. I followed the directions on the can and it came out fine.
1. Disconnect the air intake house from the TB.
2. Spray cleaner for 10 seconds while manually moving the throttle lever.
3. Start car and let run for a minute.
4. Repeat until can is finished.
The car has a very nice idle now. I also replaced the PCV valve and spark plugs so that may have something to do with it.

If U spray TB cleaner in the engine- that stuff is pretty flamable, and once it ignites with the fuel and air mixture it can blow holes in the engine, bend rods.... Its best to use a wet rag to clean the TB Up. I have 80K miles on mine and never cleaned it... I think its time for that and the TB coolant bypass mod I use BG throttle body and intake cleaner.
