HIDs & Front License Plates

Hi everyone!

I joined the ORG community about a month ago ( but I owned a 3rd Gen. before this and read up on a few things over there without joining) when I purchased a used 2000 Loaded SE Auto. I must confess that I've become an addict! This place is great to learn all kinds of things about my new Max and cars in general. Kudos to all who support and maintain this site!

I have a request and a question.

First, (this may sound stupid so be warned!) where can I get one of those black brackets for your front license plate? Here in CO you are required to have the front plate and this is the first car I have owned that didn't already have one. Can I get one from a dealer that will fit the 5th gen. Max?

Now, for my my request. I recently purchased a used (not stolen...I checked) set of HIDS from a Nissan parts guy in Florida but I am having trouble finding any help to install them. I know there's a good reason for that (the HID theft deterrent kit is on it's way from Courtesy) but I'm hoping someone can provide me a copy of a How-To so I can install them myself. Along those same lines, has anyone installed the Nissan theft-deterrent kit themselves? Was it a hard install? Anyone know approximately what a dealer will charge to install the kit for you?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

The dealer should have the bracket, if it's a state
requirement, I would say that car was brought in from a state that doesn't require front plate. And as far as installing headlights maybe try the service manual on CD, since thats essentially what techs use for repairs at dealer.

Thanks for the help! I'll contact a Nissan dealer near me and see what they say.

Did you buy the entire HID headlight assembly from 02 or 03 or just HID kit for your halogen headlights?

Thanks for the info. and the welcome. I'll have to call a dealer tomorrow (or maybe the broker who sold me the car) and see how much it will cost me for one. If it's over like 5 or 10 bucks I'm going the junkyard route too!
