How can you tell by looking if it has the optional HLSD...drilled metal pedals?
Any other signs?
Looking at a pre-owned. Want to make sure it really has this feature...and not just a retrofit of AE pedals.
I guess the test drive will prove it, too.

Thanks
Rob

I beleive there is a code on the transmission as well. Someone on here mentioned a metal plate in the engine bay with a code.

Look in the engine bay at the firewall. There should be a metal plate with your VIN number stamped on it. Below the VIN number on the plate is another number. It should be something like this (I've bolded the letters that change depending on the car):

BLJULTYA33EUA-----

Here's a breakdown of what that code means:

B = Sedan
LJ = Engine (see below)
U = 2WD Axle
L = Left Hand Drive
T = Trim Level (see below)
A = Transmission Type (see below)
A33 = Car Model
E = EGI Intake
N = Emissions Type (see below)
A = Seating Capacity

The options for LJ are:
LH = VQ30DE
LJ = VQ35DE

The options for T are:
B = GXE
E = GXEL
G = GLE
T = SE, SES
V = SES, SEL

The options for Y are:
A = Automatic
F = Manual with LSD
Y = Manual without LSD

The options for N are:
U = Federal Emissions
V = California Emissions

The last 5 dashes may have letters displayed in them, or they may be dashes. They are dependant on the options that are installed in the car. They are also not always accurate, as my car says that I have no options installed, yet I have (or had) a Bose system and a sunroof, both of which have an option code for them.

I believe an HLSD model should have an 'H' somewhere in the transaxle code on the firewall.
