Tips for P0135 Code for SES Light

Hey everyone,

So my SES light came on, and I took it to Autozone and the Error code was a P0135. O2 Sensor in Bank 1. Something with the heat sensors or something. Wondering if anyone had the same problem and what did you guys do? Take a to a dealer or just one of your home mechanics or any DIYs. Thanks..

02 sensor...fill up your gas tank a few times, it should go away. I had that too. But now I'm at almost 50K miles and the damn SES light will not go away. I think it's just the basic SES light to tell me to bring it in. I'll get rid of it myself since I'm doing a tune up soon.

Good luck.

Hey, I had the same code a couple of weeks ago and it can be one of a few fixes. I actually have the TSB(printed it off at the dealer). The first thing you want to try is tightening the connection of the cable connector that attaches to the ECU. The ECU is up under the dash in the center. Remove both covers (in the back under each side) and the cable connection to the ECU is on the right hand side. Use two 18" wire ties and loop around the cable and ECU to tightenthe connector to the ECU. Make sure you use 18" or longer cable ties. Reset the ECU and see if you still get the code. If you do, you'll need to replace the 02 sensor. It's the one back against the firewall the is color coded black. By color coded I mean the cable will be black as the other three are different colors. There's also mention of having the ECU upgraded with new software("reflashed"), but it should only apply to DTC codes p0134 or p0154. The dealer did this for me anyways prior to installing the new O2 sensor and it did squat in terms of eliminating the problem. More than likely you'll need a new o2 sensor as I did.
