belt change instructions

Courtesyparts.com has them for $9.20 (Power Steering Belt) and $14.13 (Compressor/Alternator Belt). Courtesyparts.com is a Nissan dealership. The Nissan dealer you went to wants to rip you off. Or that's the price for the belts and installation.

Belts s/b replaced every 4 years, cracking due to wear and heat. I have 58 K miles. No problems, but the 4th year is belt change time for me.
$115 was for parts + labor.

p/s # 25-040305 = $ 10
A/C, etc # 25-060435 = $ 16.58

Took about one hour, mostly looking for hidden pivot bolt on Power Steering Pump and tight room for turning wrenches. Two boxend wrenches 12mm & 14 mm, and 14 mm socket w/ extension.
Jack up car (pass. side is a enough). secure with stand, remove front passenger
wheel, remove splash guard in wheel well.
Loosen tensioner pulley (above crank pulley) w/ 14 mm wrench, just 1 whole turn. Open hood, look down (from passenger side) and find tensioner adjust nut, use a 14 mm socket w/ extension (CW) draw pulley up about ten whole turns.
Remove serpintine belt (from under side).
Look up from under side, at Power Steering pump belt adjuster and find 4 inches up, the locking nut, w/ 12mm wrench and loosen about 1 whole turn.
Looking up (firewall side of engine), find O2 sensor and follow to back side of Power Steering pump, a 14 mm bolt and loosen 1 whole turn (really hard to see, but can be seen from different agnle, but wrenched blindly). On the tensioner, 12 mm wrench, draw the pump down (CCW) to release tension and enough to remove belt add a couple of turns because new belt will be smaller, yet.
Remove Power Steering belt.
Install New belt (make sure belt does not hang-up on a bolt head protruding above Crank pulley).
Adjust P/S belt tensioner taught, but not too tight in belt deflection.
Tighten 12 mm lock nut on adjuster, and 14 mm socket on P/S pump pivot bolt.
Install Crank, A/C serpintine belt.
Adjust tensioner from above, for a taught fit. And tighten bolt on Tensioner Pulley.
DONE.
Install splash guard, and wheel.

Before you start, try to loosen the bolt behind the PS pump. If you are not going to loosen it (which incidently is in the most f..cked up place on earth ) then no point doing anything. Spray some WD40 on the bolt, put everything together and try next weekend.
Let me be honest, I tried with all kinds of universal joints to loosen the bolt behind the PS pump and it wouldn't budge. Beats me the engineers could put the bolt in an almost inaccessible location.

I just got belts replaced last weekend and now I get a strong "whirring" noise when accelerating. I'm hoping the noise will die down in time once the belts adjust. Is this a common thing?

I got a whirring sound as well when I changed my belts about 5 months ago. I think I still notice the sound even now.
