What happends if I put more than 4.25 quarts in?
The manual says to put 4.25 quarts of oil in on the oil change. I put exactly 4.25 in. Should I put a little more in, like 4.5 or so quarts? Would this affect the engine in any way? Should I keep putting 4.25 quarts in or less or more?
Not a good idea to over fill. If too much oil is in the pan the crank can whip or aerate the oil into a foam, which is no good. Granted, a 1/4 to 1/2 quart probably won't put you into this situation, but don't go more than that.

The biggest danger with overfilling is creatingmore pressure and damaging seals. In rare cases, you can literally bog your engine down, but that means really just sticking in a hose and letting it pour. Thought it has been done.
4.2-4.5 is just fine. 5.0 is too much though it shouldn't kill it.

too much oil will cause a drop in oil pressure when something happens to the oil in the engine (forgot the term for it)
i also imagine you'll get alot more excess oil particles traveling back into your intake tract
