Shocks/Struts Replacement

At what mileage should you start replacing suspension parts? Or should I just wait until they start to fail? I have 85k on my 2000 SE.

Also, what is the best overall (comfort for the price) shock/strut to use? I really don't care about lowering or improving the handling all that much if any. Just something that is a good quality and at least as good as stock.

Thanks

Just replace them as they give out. I've heard good things about Tokico Illumina's. They're adjustable so you can have whatever kind of ride you want. For some good info check out Housecor's website...http://www.innerbean.com/housecor/

KYB GR2s are also nice. The stock tockicos are garbage. Ive had 3 sets in the rear, and now need a 4th. When my warranty goes, im getting KYBs all around.

Tokico Illuminas here... very nice ride

If you start to feel your ride become too harsh, especially over bumps... it's time to change the struts. My old OEM struts became like that, turns out one of the rear struts was prone to bottoming out without rebounding on its own... after the Illumina swap everything became smoother.
