I'm not sure so you might want to call GReddy at the phone number I listed in the original post. Good luck.

Damn.........

That is way to much for a catback. You can get a custom catback made for like $300-400 tops. Since your supercharged you might want to try a 3" exhaust. Now the car will be loud but if you were to say get a Z28 SS muffler it might quiet it down some. But $600 is too much for a catback IMHO (I paid $200 for my 2.5" catback).

Correctly your car sounded like a FART machine at Don's house!!! Thanks but not thanks I want no part in my car sounding like that! I believe in you get what you pay for and GReddy is definitely a QUALITY product plus it sounds good. $600 is about what the GReddy cat backs run. Nismo I didn't mean to slam you too badly but we all commented on how loud your car was and then general consensus was, "DAMN THAT THINGS LOUD!!" Peace and take care.

As for the custom exhaust, what components you buy will determine the sound you get. If you take out the resonator and put a new muffler in, it will be loud. It all depends on what you want...

I have not heard any bad things about Greddy exhaust systems. I would say that it is a good buy, if you are willing to spend the money.

Did anybody call Greddy?

I'm very curious to here about numbers on this exhaust...performance-wise.

Also, can't wait to hear one. I'm not a fan of loud exhaust, but a good, powerful rumble would be a nice touch.

Hey DMan, since I plan to add a S/C for my auto max, I was wondering how fast it is, can you give a ride to a Tl, if you would have to run against a 5 sp max 5th gen, would you kill it easily ? Just give me an idea so I can get addicted and find a really good reason to buy it.

Thanks

Desert Pearl custom fit a 4th gen GReddy onto his 5th gen. He posted a wav/mpg of the exhaust sound 2 weeks ago. Try searching for his post in here.

Re: YEAH AND IF I RECALL . . . .

My car wasn't that loud . When Francis put his stillen exhaust on his 4th gen now that was loud! But then again I never heard my car from the outside either. I remember how quiet your car was, I didn't even think it was on. That was pretty funny your car with the V2 idled quieter than my did. BTW how do you like the Y pipe on your car and have you dynoed it yet? Next time your in houston I want another ride in that beast .

Man I LOVE the y-pipe and I really notice the improvement in performance at higher speeds. It is very quiet too (I can hear it slightly under WOT) but gives the exhaust a nice deep note now. I'll let you know next time I'm in Houston visiting my folks or friends. Take care.

Hate to break the news to you but Stillen WILL NOT sell the V2 supercharger kit to owners of automatic maximas due to the inability of the tranny to handle the power. I've raced and beaten a stock auto 5th Gen (by 2 car lengths & a second time catching him from behind and passing him), both a 5 speed and and auto 4th Gen maxima, hung with a BMW 540i from a 50 mph roll till about 110 mph, 1997 or 1998 Mustang Cobra on the freeway, numerous modified Honda Civics and Accords, Acura TL, Lexus GS 400. I did however get beat off the line by a 2000 Pontiac TransAm, the BMW 540i, and a 2000 Mustang GT 5 speed. You win some and loose some but I try to pick my races carefully cause I hate getting beat. Funny, Stillen told me that they might have a resolution by this summer about SC on Auto 5th gen maximas???

So, how is your auto tranny(with VB mod) holding up???Are you experiencing any potential tranny failure or problems at all?

Thanks
Tim

My tranny is holding up just fine! It shifts great and often times chirps into 2nd gear under W.O.T. I also don't abuse my tranny. Don't get me wrong I do like to race and stuff but I don't gun it off the line very often unless I'm trying to mess with someone.

You can find my .wav files at the site in my signature. The recording labelled inside accurately depicts the sound of my car, both from the inside and the outside. The recording labelled outside overloaded the microphone and doesn't resemble my car's sound at all. That particular recording does sound really mean though, so I left it on the site. I'll post some better pics of my cat-back soon, so check back later if you want to get a better look at it.

Also a few people on this board (2000MaximaSE, MrBurner & IceY2K1) have heard it first hand. You could ask them for input.
