'03 GLE Tire replacement (NOT SE)
Hello All,
I've replaced the stock tires on my 03 GLE with 225/50/17 Toyos.. they rode horribly (lots of road noise, wouldn't balance properly, poor handling)
So, being that there were NO good options in the original spec size, nor the 225/50 size, I used the tire comparison and saw that 255/55/17 weren't that big of a difference w/ respect to the effective radius.
And, I got the Yoko Avid H4s's, from another retailer and they seem to ride nicely.
Took the TOYO's back for a refund and the guy saw them on the car, and basically was told that I'm committing suicide. His explanation was that they came TOO close to the wheel wells. And that if I were to hit a pothole, I'd *rip* out my fender.
In my opinion, there is enough room all around to accomodate the tire. Is this tire size okay, and he's just annoyed that I wanted a refund? Or, is there validity to his remarks?
Thanks-
Derek
