Flashing Airbag Light

Yesterday I noticed that my airbag light was continuously flashing while driving and never turned off like it usually does when you start that car. I checked the manual to find out that it is indicating a possible problem with the airbag restraint system or the pretensioner belt.

I called Nissan today and the dealer told me that the only way he would know what was wrong with it would be to hook up to the computer (which will be around $75 if I remember correctly) to find out the exact problem. He said it could be a loose sensor or something to do with the pretensioner system of the seat belt, but he couldn't give me any price estimates because it could be one of a variety of things.

The earliest I could make it in there is Wednesday after work, so I have a few days. Has anyone here had this happen to them? If so, what are the "variety of things" that could have to be fixed and what do you guys think they would cost?

Of course this happens right after I drop over $500 on a set of new tires Saturday. This is going to be a very expensive Maxima week.

Thanks

Wow...I'm suprised that no one has taken the opportunity to at least complain about how much Nissan loves to overcharge for everything that they do!

Someone has to have had this problem.....any help?
