Im in the market for an alarm too and was wondering why everyone went with the viper791? Is it because its really good or does that don guy get a deal on them? Just curious.

all the viper and clifford products are good. The viper 791 and clifford rsx3.5 just have extra features like a 2-way paging system with LCD and remote start.

Viper 791 owns!

i myself have installed well over 30 of these units since they came out and never once had a faulty component out of the box. Any security system/remote start system made by DEI is made to last.

You have to get the 555u by dei and you need an extra key.

I have the compustart, the white one, the black one has longer range, but its not worth it, because the black one dies alot faster, like every 2 weeks or so as opposed to the white one where ud only have to change the battery like every 5 months. and the white one u can get a second remote, but not the black one. so overall the white one has a 3000Ft range which is more than enough. Im very satisfied w/my compustar

Don't remote starters deactivate or bypass your emobolizers?

no not really, people think they do, you hide the box that the key is in and you put that out of range of the ignition......the 555u or 556u immobilizer only sends the key signal IF the remote start is activated, not hot wired or anything like that.

I would definetly go with the Clifford RSX 3.5. It has to be one of the best alarm/remote starter out there. Im puttin it on my truck soon and as soon as i get my max im gonna put it on there too ..... it does help that i work at ultimate electronics to get these

Thanlks guys again for the support...I do primarily Viper alarms, and Im not too far from you thebigf914 . Gimme a call or email and we can possibly set something up. As far as doing it yourself, its not overly comlicated IF you have some knowledge in car electronics. Although Viper,Clifford,Python, etc all have strict restrictions of them being dealer sold and installed.

How much do they cost? I am in TX, so Don is a little far from me. My brother got one on his 3rd gen and it's really cool. I want one too.
