22" is all you need. That's the stock size.

Is it much louder than stock? I have 18" generic (tube shape, not stock) resonator. with Magnaflow SS muffler right now and i don't like how it sound around 2k. Do you this 22" Magnaflow will quiet it down a bit.

i'd be interested to know because i have a magnaflow muffler sitting on my porch.. and i'm wondering if i should get a resonator and some custom 2.5 inch piping to make a magnaflow catback.... anybody?

This is what I have in my 6thgen, model #10436. It's 4" in dia. with 2.5" inlet/outlet. My stock resonator was huge so it basically killed all the sound. The Magnaflow is smaller so I got some of the noise back around 1500 to 2000 rpms

Click the link below to see the sizes that will fit your 5th gen

Oh, a resonator is considered round body a muffler? I amazingly didn't know that.. lol

i read the altima guys talking about a 27 inch resonator and how quiet that is, which i like.. i just want the performance, and maybe a LITTLE bit of extra noise.. but to be honest, the headers and intake provide enough noise for me.. the catback would be mainly for performance.. i already have a magnaflow muffler.. i was gonna get a magnaflow resonator, and take it to a shop to have them build custom 2.5 inch piping to make a full catback... that will work right?

I'm using a cherry bomb as a resonator 27", mainly for its free flow design and glasspack design not to mention a price of anywhere from $20 - $30

Ahh the sarcasm What you asked should work. Have you considered a larger diameter muffler if you are concerned about noise?

who was being sarcastic? i was serious.. lol.. but no, i havent really.. i dont really know too much about exhaust design... i just want free flowing power with not much more noise.. a deeper tone would be nice, but i don't want it raspy, or to hear it drone all the time.. how big is our stock resonator?

Go with what DaveVQ mention earlier, and get a glasspack which are really cheap and lower your exhaust tone to a nice quite, but deep tone. If anything get a B-pipe from Mr Cattman and if its not quite enough for you with your Magnaflow muffler add a glasspack or resonator shown on the OP.

Heck yes it will . What kind of tone you trying to get out of your exhaust ?

maybe something like this with headers, stock cat, and a megan catback:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSjlN...eature=related
The only thing is with that video.. that sounds pretty good, but I don't know if there's any drone while driving, or how it sounds farther away from the car you know? that's the only video i could find with headers and a megan catback, but megan seems to be the quietest i could find

DaveVQ had the megan but got rid of it since it was to loud wit his headers. If your going to do exhaust I say go with Cattman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-YzU...eature=related

I have headers with a 5.5 muffler, a gutted b-pipe(hoping to get a cattman soon) and it sounds just find for me (I have 2 kids). Taking my test pipe off cause it adds really bad Rasp to the exhaust, other then that its a bit quite.

The megalnmuffler is straight through design it has no real way to baffle the sound and the drone was terrible, especially with headers, not too mention the megan has fitment issues or at least with me it did, I had issues where it layed against the exhaust support and rattle the whole car bad not too mention it didn't fit over the rear beam and layed against it as well.

Glasspacks have a real good way to eliminate drone or so I have read. I'm hoping to get my new 3" exhaust with glasspack resonator in soon

ok, well so much for megan.. lol.. glasspacks just seem so cheap, u know? it's just hard to imagine that they're good quality.. but i guess if people give good reviews about them, there has to be something to it.. what size glasspack do you guys suggest to eliminate drone, not have any rasp, but a little deeper tone than the car has now with headers?

dave, you have the 27" how does yours sound?

is that how fast the revs are supposed to drop? vq30 or 35? My revs drop slower. 2002 se with crappy custom cat back. no res + a'pexi fart tube. Custom "CAI" right behind the radiator...sounds ok though. TONS of drone

vid in car. starts right around 1min then skip to about 2 mins

The cherry bomb is aluminized steel construction right? Louvers instead of perforations....Right?
