Will these work on a 6th gen? I noticed someone saying that you guys made one for the 02s so you might be interested in it and recently someone posted that they test fit a short shifter on there 04 and it works great. He didnt know the company whos shifter it was though. Would love to have one if yours fits.

Let me see what we can do. Is there a big enough demand for the 04 models?

it's an awesome mod. That and the bushings together are amazing!!

Going through the gears is a breeze, it feels solid, and totally makes me want to go out and drive, despite crappy weather etc.... How's everyone else liking theirs?

Im still loving the hell out of mine. I finally got used to the shorter throw and it feels natural. I have the new bushing coming in today I hope and I am freaking excited since it will make it a little stiffer. Thanks again HP for the awesome item.

Good to hear. Mine's sitting at the post office and I'll put it in tonight. My only concern is how difficult it will be to shift until the gearbox fluid warms up.

I live in a colder climate and the STS isn't any different in the winter than the OEM set-up. At times it is a bit stiff till it warms up a bit, but that happened with the stock set up, too. While the car is idling at warm up, I will shift through the gears 2 or 3 times before starting out. That seems to help loosen it up a bit.

mine is great too, at first it was a bit weird because i was not use to the shorter shifts, but i quickly learned. I love the mod, and as a added benefit, if i have a large iced coffee in the front cup holder, if i shift into 2nd, 4th, or 6th, it doesn't hit the cup anymore and make the lid come off! that by itself was worth the $150. lol. I love, and have had no problems.

^^^ I never though of that. 6th is a PIA when using the cup holder

The shifts are a little bit more stiffer and well clickier if thats a word. Its sometimes hard to find 3rd gear and it doesn't slide in as easy as before.

All of you guys really need to add the bushings now if you haven't already. WOW, they work so great together, and totally change the driving experience i feel. This probablly sounded really corny, but i actually don't feel as bored anymore with the car. I guess this is the true sign of mod addiction AHAHAH. ; )

Can I feasibly install the short shifter without the loctite? I want to drive around with it just to make sure I like it, so I don't wan to loctite it just yet. Then again, I don't want the thing to fall apart while I'm driving either.

you don't need loctite. i didn't use it, and it's a tight fit as it is.

THe only trouble i see without using loctite is the amount of movement and vibration and the type of bolt used, that over time it could potentially loosen.

And with a piece like this, that serves between your shifter and the tranny, i dont think you want to risk having that piece fall out whil you are driving along.. NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE

I agree with MiniRX7. You definately don't want to be merging with traffic and not be able to shift. If you don't have the stock airbox it would be easy to drive it for a while and use locktite later.

Also, using locktite doesn't mean you can't remove it later. It just requires a bit more effort to break the bolt free. Just use the locktite. You really wont want to remove it once you drive it!! I don't think anyone here (including myself) has wanted to take it off.

what's such a big deal? Use loctite, it just makes the thing stick better, it's not glue. If you are capable of turning a wrench and squeezing a bottle, it's no big deal.

Wel loctite just there to keep the bolt from becoming loose from vibrate and shock, you can break them loose easily only with little force.

Still available? I have been looking to get a sts for a 2003 se that I bought only a month ago. I noticed how long it is compared to my previous car. Looking at the posts it seems like this is killer, is this still ongoing?
