it sounds like the stiffness comes from the shorter moment arm b/t where shifter cable is attached to the sts and the pivot point attached to the shifter rod linkage. all i can say is that this sts is only one of the possible solutions and I would like to see someone installing a longer shifter cable instead, which will make the shifter rod tilt toward the arm rest which works better for my short forearm. I would also say I don't like the idea of shortening the shifter rod from the top since it'll lower the *** position which will put the driver's arm in an awkard position due to the height of the arm rest which some of us like to rest our elwbows on.

I got mine in the mail today!!! I have a friend on the way over to let me borrow some tools because mine got stolen, but I'm about to install it in the 30 degree parking lot because I can't wait. I agree with some people that the price seems high considering the size of the product, but considering the R&D cost and the demand, I totally understand, and appreciate you doing this. I have had my car for 2.5 years and have been waiting for this for approximately 2.5 years, so thank you guys for stepping it up. I will let you know what I think when I get it installed.

Thanks again to everyone once again. We hope with the many customers on this forum having already installed their STS, it will make those of you guys that were leaning to buy, actually swing over and pick one up. No B.S.....it truely makes driving the car that much more enjoyable. You dont have to be performance oriented to enjoy this mod.

I installed mine tonight and the 7 minutes you said it would take to install must have included popping the hood, plugging in the light and untangling the wires, and hanging the light under the hood, and reading the instructions, and the warranty, and then the actual install, and then driving around the block. The install was more like 1 minute. My buddy was watching and was like, "that's it?????" because he didn't even think I had the pin out of the original setup when I was finished. EASY install. The shifter feels AWESOME. I have been waiting for that forever. The throws are short and they feel SO much more solid than stock. Again guys, this is a great product. I am thrilled.

Installed mine tonight too. This is the easiest thing I have ever installed on my Max. It is even easier than changing the wiper blades for crying out loud!! Just got back from a long drive. Shifting feels so solid and smooth now. I noticed I am able to keep the RPM's much higher after it is in gear too. I am in love with my car all over again b/c of this. Thanks HP! You guys are so awesome!

7 mintes if done right the first time with an airbox, or 7 minutes if done wrong the first time without an airbox.

I feel left out I order mine Sunday the 5th and it still has not come to my door! Mail came today and no STS. All these good reports make me want mine even more. I did talk to HP and said for whatever reason it wasn't shipped till last Friday. I wonder if this mess up deserves a discount hmm. Anyway cant wait to get it.

I am really considering getting this the distance between gears is ridiculous that is really the only thing that I have found wrong with my car since I got it in Aug. but I was wondering how difficult it was for people to install I really have no experience doing this should I have a mechanic do this for me or is it easy enough were I can do it myself.

Man, If the last page of posts do not give you an idea on how easy this is to install... I am not sure what will. Lets put it this way... My MOM could install this in 10 minutes... and she doesn't even know how to set the time on a microwave.

So after having this installed for two days I am still beyond happy with this product. It is so much easier to shift, I can spin the tires everytime now going from 2nd to 3rd, and the shifting is so smooth and short you dont even feel the car shift now. Again I can not thank you enough HP for the awesome product. Everyone that has a 6 speed should get this product, believe me it is well worth it.

i am not happy at all, the shifting is too smooth and too short, i find myself abusing the cars power too much, time to downgrade to a neon

HP you guys created a golden child with this product, by far the best and most worthy mod i have done to my car, this should be the first thing anyone with a 6 speed gets

I am still extremely happy with this product. Even after several days of driving I am still enjoying the car so much more than before. Shifting quickly takes no effort at all now. This is a must have!.
