Ignition Coils Vs. Spark Plugs

Hm........ I'm reading a lot about the 5th Generation's problems with Ignition Coils, but I was wondering what is the difference between spark plugs and ignition coils. So someone please try answer me, thanks. I have try to find something, but I don't seem to be able find them, thanks, a newbie here. Thanks

the ignition coil is the electrical connector that attaches to the spark plug

The coil is attached to the spark plug and actually makes the plug "spark" at the proper time to ignite the gas / air mixture inside the combustion chamber.

On the 5th gen, the coils are on each individual plug / cylinder where as older cars have a single coil that sparks and runs the impulse down spark plug wires. Its not that simple but this is probably more info than you wanted to know anyway! lol

Yep..as they said above, instead of having a single coil and a distributor like in some cars, there's a separate coil for each spark plug.
