After changing the ignition coils

When Im done, do I have to reset the ECU?

I suppose I must do it for the SES light to go off, but do I HAVE to do it before I start my engine with the new coils?

Im wondering how my ECU will react, being finally back on good coils...

I'm curious about this as well. I read in another thread that you can reset the ECU by unplugging the negative terminal for around 30 mins.

The CEL will turn off when the problem is fixed. There is no need to reset the ECU. The coils operate identically to the old ones. There is no need for the ECU to be reprogrammed either.

The ECU will check your ignition system either every 500 or 1000 revolutions to see if the problem is gone. When it is, the CEL will turn off. If it doesn't turn off, there is something else wrong. The coils are not the only culprit for an ignition system problem, but the most likely.

Why not call spinelli nissan and ask for the technical rep. He/she should help.

My SES went "off" after I de-plugged the diagnostics unit.

Just curious which P/N coils you installed and if they show Hanshin or Wells and/or a silver dot.

I ordered my coils from Dave B, got the silver dots on them (the part numbers are 22448-2Y005 for front and 22448-2Y000 for rear).

50$ each coils.
10$ each spark plug.

I hope the misfire (saw the SES light flash a couple of times) from last week didnt damage anything... havent driven the car since.

My car misfired 2x within 2 weeks, SES light stayed ON (TLC and SLIP lights came ON during misfire then disappeared) , performed diagnostics, SES light OFF and I'm still driving it. Coils to be changed very soon since I'm waiting for some info. I called Nissan Canada and politely asked for some coil info but they said contact your dealer.

Your car shouldnt be damaged from the misfiring.
