Keyless Entry Trunk Release Problem

My 2001 Max SE has a rather annoying (though small) problem -- the trunk release only sporadically works from the remote. If I'm lucky it will work on the 4th or 5th button push, but usually I just have to give up and use the key.

The remote door lock/unlock works just fine, and the problem occurs with both transmitters. The trunk release on the driver door works fine, too, so the issue doesn't seem to be in the relay. I've checked fuses and checked the obvious connections and couldn't find anything, but I suspect it's a bad/loose wire somewhere.

Has anyone else had this issue or have any ideas? I appreciate your help!

eliminating the (probably) obvious?

On mine, you have to hold the button down for 1 or 2 seconds, otherwise it doesn't work. When I first got it a few weeks ago, I thought it didn't work, then quickly discovered that trick.

Thanks for the suggestion - I've tried that before as well, but it doesn't help. Since it seems to work randomly, that's why I'm leaning toward a bad wire somewhere.

Check striker release harness in actual trunk lid, worse comes to worse it probably is your striker.
Then again, do you have an add on alarm system ??
I've seen some amateur alarm wiring jobs that really fizzle me good when I diag electrical bugs
