Helppp My 2000

When i was driving home last night the car was ver very rough the idle was really bad. when i drove the car it sounded like something was clogged or some junk. th car shifted fine but when im in first gear it would take a good while before it it was goin fast enough to shift out to 2nd. my gas milage has gone down. from 320 a tank to 280, now 260. wat could be the problem i know its not my MAF, it might be my coils, or (GOD FORBID) my tranny. The dealer checked out my car and said theres nothing wrong with the engine it fine, what do you guys think im really in a bind and have no idea man. Thanks for all the input

I had very similar problem on my 2K recently and it was the MAF getting ready to die. Pinging stopped after replacement. No codes until it croaked in the driveway.

Definitely on track with the MAF or coils. Do the MAF first!!!!!! It's a hell of a lot cheaper than 6 coils. I work at a Nissan dealer in the parts dept and we can't keep those MAF's on the shelf, but of course the coils have also been on backorder. but definitely do the MAF first. While your at it get an inductions service and change the fuel filter, and dont let them fool you that the fuel filter shouldn't be changed. I just had it changed and it took one of my technicians 10 minutes to do the job.

sounds like the MAF, the MAF's on the 2000-2003 maxima's were horrible. The coils aren't good either. I would check the maf first. if you go to www.car-part.com you can get a new MAF for cheap. On the 2000-2001's i've heard you can get just the Insert piece for the maf tube and it's mucher cheaper but i don't remember the part number. good luck.

Is the MAF the tubular sensor that is part of the intake or is it the small square sensor that is next to it?

that sounds like coils to me... mine did the same and the dealer replaced all six coils and it was good as new. if it was the MAF i thought you would have almost NOTHING above 3,000 Rpm's

OK I thought so. Wish I had a bit for the odd-looking screws that hold the sensor in the housing so I didn't have to take the entire intake apart. Thanks for your help.
