How do you put it back in and keep it all water tight?

Reverse process but add more sealant.

I just swapped mine for '02 T/L's, and I could've sworn that I used an 8mm.

I think its a 10mm... either way... its just a matter of finding the right socket size... why is that such a big deal?

Harness

I have a set of 02 tails I will be installing on a 00. Are you guy buying the harness for the dealer or are you going to the salvage yard for it. What is the price and part # at the Nissan dealer.

To convert from '00-'02 you need to use the harness (on the '02 lights) and they'll just plug into the socket from the '00 (bodyside). Did that make sense?

You need an 8 mm socket for the tail light swap. You will also need the 2002 wiring harnesses, b/c the bulbs are different (you need new blinker bulbs for sure; buy them at Autozone). Harnesses are about $20 each from Dave B, and you also need 1 roll of black sealant (one roll will do both new tail lights). Sealant is around $15 from Dave B. Reuse the locking nuts from the old red tail light housings; takes about 30 minutes to switch the lights. Good luck with the switch, it looks a lot better after you're done!

I swapped my 2k2 tails with some 2k1s from another .Org member.... we did it in the parking lot of his apt complex and it was a direct swap, including the harnesses... not sure why ya need to buy harnesses or bulbs....

Well, then I did it the hard way Puppetmaster. Dave B was the guy who said I needed the 2k2 harness, and I'd like to think he wouldn't steer me wrong.

No... he has a good rep and is trustworthy... I guess maybe the lights ya got just didn't come with em? I dunno... its hard for me to really know unless I knew your exact situation... AE SEoulchild and I swapped the entire housings and harnesses with nothing additional needed... we didn't even add new sealant (which was probably a bad idea, but so far so good... )

Tail lights

I went the dealership and that part that the bulbs twist in to can be used from you "00 tail lights it has two philps screws and two tab holding it on. Use that part for your "00 lights it fits directly in to the "02 housing. This way is the cheapest and simplest way not to buy that harness. It only cost $24 at your local dealer
