Exactly... and the biggest reason of all, which ties into what Larry (or is it Andy? ) said, is that the bigger WG will better prevent boost spikes, which would grenade the engine...

Uhhh... what about the Stillen Supercharger kit (which is what I had on my 2K Maxima)?

And don't forget the PFI turbo kit (http://www.turbokits.com/maxima_turbo_kits.html)

Tim thinks he'll have the car done this thursday... the jet-hot coating took longer than expected to complete, so he's supposed to be getting the piping back today from them.

I'm on call for jury duty this week, so the plan is to go down next week and dyno the car/take it home...

no new pics yet...

Answer to problem:

If you notice in the first pic (of the 3 problem pics) the piping that connects the rear header with the front header, and then feeds into the turbo, is almost touching the radiator. Also, none of the pipes is lining up correctly anymore.

What happened was that originally, I had the Place Racing motor mounts installed. So when Tim fabricated all of the pipes, he did it with the PR motor mounts.

When Tony and I went down and replaced the PR motor mounts, with the ES motor mounts... well, you can see in pics 2 and 3 the difference in how the motor mount cage is made. The OEM motor mount cage (with the ES motor mount bushing installed) is much wider than the custom made PR motor mount.

So the solution that Tim came up with, is to cut the OEM motor mount to accomodate the pipe. Basically, he's going to cut a notch into the OEM motor mount, and then weld a new plate of steel onto the mount to re-box it in. Tim says the mount will be stronger than the OEM mount after this...

How does this affect any future kits, you ask? Well basically, Tim will include an OEM motor mount that he's already modified along with the kit. So there won't be any tweaking needed on the kit buyer's part...

doublea;

this kit is for the 5.5 gen specifically. You might want an 02/03 max first... (or get some other kit).

Well, originally, I wanted to change them for the ES mounts because the PR mounts made the car vibrate a bit too much for me...

Then, when I read the threads about them melting when headers were installed, that was a secondary reason....

Of course, I had them on for a few months with the headers and when we took them off, they were in perfect condition...

blackbird....do you have a video of what the hotshot headers sound like on your 3.0? did you have to have a shop put a EGR connector in there for you?...anything else that you had to custom fabricate or alter to bolt 'em up?
