Hey, I didn't know we had Avalon Racing rep on the board. Can you pass on some details on the Avalon Racing Edtn. AE? Questions:

1. Do you package all the aftermarket products on the AR-AE for someone who already owns an AE Max at a fixed price?

2. Do you have discounted prices for Maxima.org members? Either way, please post all prices applicable to the AR-AE upgrades (not the whole vehicle, just the products you add).

3. Can you provide details on why you've modified a PRCAI and put the filter inside the engine bay as opposed to just installing the stock PRCAI. How that can still be considered a CAI with the filter in the bay?

4. Could you provide details on the Stillen Exhaust which you have on your AR-AE...what stillen part is it and what have you modified? Granite Wool Lined???

5. Can you provide before and after dyno charts on an AR-AE?

6. Does your AR-AE include any cosmetic modifications other than the AR logos?

7. If an existing AE owner were to upgrade their vehicle to the equivalent of the AR, what sort of expressed warranties would you provide on the various parts which you have modified such as the CAI you provide?

8. Do you make any tire upgrade recommendations along with your package or do you ship the stock tires?

9. Why did you choose Eibach for the springs? Why have you not upgraded the struts on the AR?

I am very interested in building up my AE to be an AR equivalent (not concerned with the AR logos unless you want to throw them in for free). I've only got a couple thousand miles on my AE, but I'm about ready to make some changes. I'm purely interested in performance and suspension modifications and specifically would like the cars sound and appearance to remain the same...so I am interested to know how well muffled the performance exhaust you provide is and other things that might go along with my concerns.

Thanks in advance.

You may get a faster response by calling Paul direct at (603) 425-2270. I'm sure he'd be happy to answer your questions "live and in person". One reason for this is that he said he cruises a lot of different boards and may not be able to provide as fast a response as you may like but is interested in helping us as best he can. Of course, that's paraphrased but I think I got it right from when I spoke to him today.

He was telling me about this guy from NJ who is making a two-day trip (hotel stay and all) up to his shop in NH to have his AE modified into the AR/AE. Sure wish I had the coin to do that.

I used to live in Boston...wish this had come up then...but wouldn't have mattered since I didn't have a Maxima then. The coinage isn't the problem...the problem is the fact that I'm based in Seattle now...long drive!

Thanks for the FYI on Paul.

Try Florida then.......coin is not the problem but I want something that is certified and proven. My previous ride, 95 Ram Air T/A (got married), had Lingenfelter parts and ran hard but never broke. I would like some similar advances for the Max but don't know who or what to trust. Maybe Paul will post his own thread when time permits. And damn the SE/AE Max's muffler is dog-ugly !!!!!!

You got that right. Got a close up look of the new TL-S down at the mall the other day. They did a nice job on the tail pipes on that.

Didn't notice. All I saw were those two big-@ss chrome pipes stickin' straight outta the back. Come to think of it, the AE pipes look like limp "noodles" compared to that. Couldn't the Nissan stylists come up with something better than that?

The SE/AE may have a whopping 5 horses additional......but the muffler on a reg SE looks nicer. The AE looks like it was painted a light silver metallic and the two tips ...well..... completely void of the chrome that was found inside this model (shifter, petals, door sills) anyone found a replacement yet that doesn't sound like bees at full swarm and a tip that could be considered less than a coffee can ???? Stillen looks nice but appears to close to rear valance and melted plastic is not in ......

Just SHIP it!

He told me, since I live in Arizona, that I could ship him the car. If you have the cash, the EXTRA money for shipping shouldn't be a problem as long as you have an extra ride to borrow for a week or so. He gave me an estimate on shipping the car and it wasn't that much, but I can't remember how much.

BTW, Have him do a $tillen SC and Quaiff differential while he's at it! The Quaiff is better/stronger than the AE limited slip according to what I've heard. Anyways, keep us posted on how things turn out.

1. Do you package all the aftermarket products on the AR-AE for someone who already owns an AE Max at a fixed price?

Yes - we can package the complete kit. The exceptions would be the limited edition plaque that identifies it as the Linmited Edition we build for Nissan dealers. If you have an 01 AE LE - we can build a numbered car for you.

2. Do you have discounted prices for Maxima.org members? Either way, please post all prices applicable to the AR-AE upgrades (not the whole vehicle, just the products you add).

The regular prices are on our web site. If more than one item ordered at a time, we usually cna cut package deals.

3. Can you provide details on why you've modified a PRCAI and put the filter inside the engine bay as opposed to just installing the stock PRCAI. How that can still be considered a CAI with the filter in the bay?

We modified it for a few reasons. 1] the 01 has a fuse box where the CAI would normally go into the fender well and 2] because the car is covered under a Nissan warranty, we had to take precautions to aid in the elimination of potential hydrolock if the CAI was to close to the fender well. So in effect, we have move the filter cone further away from the engine to allow for colder air and also moved one of the sensors.

4. Could you provide details on the Stillen Exhaust which you have on your AR-AE...what stillen part is it and what have you modified? Granite Wool Lined???

We use the Stillen high flow exhaust rear section for the Limited Editions. After the car is purchased, we can add the B pipe and Y pipe is the customer requests it. We do not add thiose parts upfront because of the warranty from Nissan.

5. Can you provide before and after dyno charts on an AR-AE?

We have a full dyno on premise and have seen around 30 + at the wheels. I will get the charts the next time I am at the shop to build another one for Nissan.

6. Does your AR-AE include any cosmetic modifications other than the AR logos?

Yes - we do all the vacuum hoses in a coordinated color, add a Black and Gold Engraved palque on the ashtray with the number of the car and the fact that it was Avalon built. We also paint the calipers. The new ones we are doing will also have full drilled rotor upgrades as well. We now have brakes for the 2k and 01 Maxima's. We start shipping them out next week.

7. If an existing AE owner were to upgrade their vehicle to the equivalent of the AR, what sort of expressed warranties would you provide on the various parts which you have modified such as the CAI you provide?

We warranty the parts for the installation and workmanship of the install. The parts themselves are under tyhe warranty of the OEM.

8. Do you make any tire upgrade recommendations along with your package or do you ship the stock tires?

The car is shipped with the factory SE tires. Should a customer want different wheels and tires we can do that as well, but not part of the base package.

9. Why did you choose Eibach for the springs? Why have you not upgraded the struts on the AR?

We went with Eibach bacuase they are progressive rate springs. This is key to maintaing the ride for the customer. We also di dnot want the car to low, as this would eliminate some of the age demographics the car is selling to. We carry H&R, B&G as well as Intrax shoulds a customer want a different ride height. As for the shocks, we saw no reason to change them at this time for the reasons mentioned above.

I am very interested in building up my AE to be an AR equivalent (not concerned with the AR logos unless you want to throw them in for free). The exhuast is quit with a nice deep tone.

Thanks in advance.
