Question about engine block on 00?

Well my friend just ran over a post with her 00 SE and it has about a 4'' crack in the bottom of the motor. The crack is on the driver side of the oil pan. Its between that and the downpipe. From the looks of it, you can unbolt the bottom half of the motor and replace it with a new piece? Does anyone have any experience with what is all involved in this and about how much this piece retails for? It definetly looks like a big job.

Must have been some serious impact.
The aluminum upper oil pan goes for $126.
The steel lower oil pan goes for $77.

Don't even try to replace them yourself unless you have some experience working on cars. Shouldn't take more than 2 hours with engine in the car, and it takes about 20 minutes on an engine stand.

Yup its definetly the upper pan. Well 2hrs doesnt sound all that bad, it looked like it would take more so thats good to know for her. Its just a good thing she didnt run the car after it happened with all the oil it was loosing!

I guess she was looking for a CD and drove up on a median into one of them thick plastic posts, pretty crappy deal considering its her 2nd day of owning the car.
