Problems installing Umnitza Angel Eyes
I spent hours today trying to figure out how to wire up my angel eyes. I thought it was going to be easy. This is the schematic that I was planning to use:
However, it doesnt really work. I found that there is another wire from the ballast to the passenger side, and I dont know what it's for.
If any of you are experienced in installing angel eyes, please me. Thanks in advance.

I think thats the wire that has to be spliced to the parking lights....that way when ever you turn on the parking lights your angel eyes turn on...well thats how Umnitza had the instructions set up. You might want to look at Housecors site he has some great instructions on setting them up with a different switch, good luck.

if you dont know, here's his webpage: http://www.innerbean.com/housecor
it has some GREAT and very helpful info on it

I had looked at his instructions closely. I had even printed them out. It still doesnt answer my question.
The purpose of putting a switch in cabin is to allow me to manually switch the angel eyes on and off, even if the engine is off and car key is not put into ignition. According to the schematic of the wiring I had drawn with paint, this seems possible. However, I tried it out and it doesnt work and I suspect this is because of the extra wire I have to connect, shown in picture #2 in the first post. Anyone?

Looking at your schematic above, it seems that you have the relay labeled as a ballast. Hopefully this helps...
- Each set of rings has a ballast
- Both ballasts are powered by the relay
- Normal installation splices into the parking light to power the relay
- The long wire on the harness that goes to the Right side of the car normally splices into the parking light
- The long wire powers the relay
- The relay powers the ballasts
In short, you must hook up the long wire to *something* to power the relay or no rings. If you want to install a switch, you must install it between a power source (when the key is on) and the long wire. That way, with the key on, you can power the relay via via the switch to have the rings on, or turn the switch off, which removes power from the relay, which turns the rings off.

Alright, I'm sort of getting it now. I noticed that there were 2 ring connectors near the relay and I thought they were supposed to be connected to the battery, and hence powering the relay???
So where is this parking light wire that I'm supposed to tap into? Do I find it in the fusebox or can I just trace it from the bulb and tap it near the fusebox?

limsandy - Your picture doesn't display this wire separately so I'm not sure I follow your current setup. But you're holding the red "trigger" or "remote" wire. This is the wire that tells the DDE's to come on. When power is sent to this red wire the DDE's light. This wire is bundled with the passenger side wiring because people normally splice the trigger into the passenger side parking light. With this setup, whenever your parking lights or headlights are on, the DDE's light up.
My switched setup is actually pretty simple. I just do the following:
1. Splice into the red trigger wire
2. Run it into the cabin
3. Hook it up to the center post on the switch
4. Run a separate wire from one of the outer posts on the switch to the driver's side parking light (since it's closer than the passenger side - no need to waste more wire).
5. Hook up a separate wire to the other open outer post on the switch and run it to constant power (outlined in the how-to). This way the trigger wire is "connected" to a switched power source like your fuel pump when the switch is in one position, and connected to your parking light when the switch is in the other position.
You could simplify this setup by not running the wire from the switch out to the driver's headlight, but still running the constant power wire from the switch I mentioned above. With only one wire running from the switch to the switched power source I mentioned in the how-to (the fuel pump) the switch turns the DDE's on and off whenever the car is running.
Hope that helps.
