my baby got hurt :-(

yesterday, i was coming out of a shopping center on a really busy road and there was a person waiting in front of me. He went (or so i thought) and i pulled up to the line where the stop sign was. I was looking to the left waiting for my chance to go, and when i had the chance, i started moving and WHAM! That car in front of me had just pulled up so that he was outside of my vision and i ran into the back of him...so we pulled over and first i went to see if he was alright, and we saw that his car had no damage so he told me it was ok and that i didnt need to worry about it..

so anyways, i hit the guy with the right side of my front bumper, and when i looked at it the first time, it was pretty much all black so i thought it was worse than it was....i took it home and everything buffed out, but my front bumper is a little crooked on the right side and it looks like my headlight just sticks out too far...

my question is: i know that most the damage is never visable, so should i expect the worst, or is it just a matter of straightening out my bumper? I'm taking it to the body shop tomorrow to get an estimate, but i just wanted to know what to expect so i dont get screwed, cuz i dont know anything about it...

It sounds like you will need a new engine, tranny, brakes, and ummmm just paint the whole car over, and maybe a new cd player.. , don't sweat it, it just sounds like your bumper needs to be aligned properly and maybe just touch up on the bumper. See what the body shop says and how much they estimate you on. Goodluck

as you can see, the bumper is just a little out of place, and it looks fine on the left side...its just the right side that has any damage (and the paint is also fine)...again sorry for the crappy pictures but if the lighting isnt perfect, my phone takes really crappy pictures and i dont have a digital camera...

exactly..im just worried about what's underneath...but if its just the alignment that's off, then that would be great! I plan to get my bumper re-painted because as you can see from the pics, its covered with chips so i think i'm going to include that in the estimate...

Trying fixing it yourself just take out the head light and from there their you should see two bolts to the back left side that hold the bumper on see if you can loosen them and pull the bumper back, otherwise the shops gonna screw you like they all do, unless you know someone that owns a shop. Also see if anything behing your grill was bent there should be a metal fixture that holds that grill up maybe that got bent and shifted, i'd check it out yourself first see if you can repair by yourself, that way you pay zero, otherwise shops should charge you around four to five hundred bucks.

You may have just pushed the bumper in a little. Take off the headlight, remove the sidemarker and give the bumper a little nudge back out.

I had the same isssue on mine as well just 3 days ago (after rear ending someone)..and my passenger side headlight was exactly like how you have it...the headlight has popped slightly out of place...just apply some pressure to the bottom of the headlight and push it back it..it should click into place...the top of the headlight is secured with 2 bolts ( visible when hood is opened), the bottom on is not fixed...so just push it back in from the bottom.

no, its definitely not the headlight...number one, that's not what was hit..and number two, i can see how the right side of the bumper doesnt match up where it meets the grill and hood so i can tell that it is the bumper that is not aligned right....

'll do what was earlier suggested, and just see what's going on behind the bumper. I can see that the grill support (that attches to the actual car frame) is a little bent, but it's a plastic piece so i cant bend it back...

i took it to the body shop today and the person that was supposed to do the estimate wasnt there, but a person that DOES work there told me that it looks like they can just bend the bumper back into place with not much labor at all (a good thing), but i still want to see how much it will cost to get my bumper re-painted (just because of all the rock chips, not from the wreck) ...

well thanks everyone, i'll go try and see what i can do with working the bumper back into place myself, but i just dont want to break anything!

alright i got an estimate yesterday, and its only about 150 dollars worth of damage...but at the same time, i got an estimate on how much it will be to paint the front bumper, and here's where it gets interesting...im thinking of painting the grill body color. Now i know that most of you think that it wouldn't look too hot on a lighter colored car, but i think the 5.5 gen grill looks good painted no matter what color. (i've seen a few sunlit sands painted and they looked really good...)

anyway, it comes out to a total of $530 (body work, paint bumper and grill), which is a LOT less than i was expecting...i have pearl paint so i thought it would be a lot more expensive...does this sound about right? or will it be a crappy job?

I had my front bumper repainted Sterling Mist. They bondo'd the license plate mounting holes and did a great job painting it for $250.00.
