Autotragic woes

Why is it that when I am driving at about 30 mph that when I step on it to accelerate quickly, it does not downshift. Rather, it rides out the gear and is very sluggish? From a stop or about 15 mph and from 55 mph and up, I always get a pop and an immediate burst of speed. Does this happen to anyone else?

30 mph is the limit for the tranny to slam into 1st gear. you must go 29 and punch it and you will smile. thats why anything over 30 mph is not a good speed to run from a roll. Now if your going 30 and you trust yourself throw your shifter down into 1. but make sure you move it to 2 before you hit the rev limiter.

Mine catches above 30, but below 35. Call me psychotic but ever since the timing advance it seems to be more eager to downshift when above 30.
