I highly recommend getting it done professionally. A machine shop should be able to do it. I damaged my front mount trying to press out the old insert--not a good time. It's not that easy of a job if you're new to this kind of stuff like I am

i paid $60 and it was a rush job, and the guy stayed late to do it. i would say you shouldn't get more than 40, 50 at most. it takes literally 20 minutes to swap. if they have the right press, a few minutes. mine was torched until the rubber melted off, then they greased mine up and popped it in.

- 4 mounts. 2 hold it up (left and right), 2 control the movement (front/rear of engine)...we are replacing the 2 front/rear inserts. the other 2 have ZERO performance benefits.

- auto's are the only ones that are electronically controlled. it is loose when you're idling, and when you press on the gas, the control mechanism turns them stiff. i've been told that auto people could just ziptie that electronic control unit and just leave it hanging in there. if you unplug, you could get a CEL.

- liquid filled means nothing. our rear-trailing arm bushings are liquid filled. you drill in and remove the liquid, rip the surround, and replace with the new aftermarket bushing.

saw a couple of local org members DIY the ES motor mount inserts last weekend.

One used a torch to get rid of all the crap in the middle, cut into the metal sleeve and pounded it out, leaving the motor mount bare. Lubed up the ES motor mount, aligned it, and pressed it in using a 2x4 piece of wood

Interesting topic -
I have a 01 se 5spd and it takes off very strange. My buddy said it feels like a broken motor mount, but I am not sure. It is almost like the clutch plates are warped. If it helps - this has been like this since new. (now has 80k)
I am new here and appreciate any thoughts on this - It is the strangest 5spd I have ever driven.

take off the driver side wheel and splash guards, not the fenderwall stuff

take a 17mm socket with swivel attachment or wobblehead socket. Attached a long extension to a breaker bar or air/power tool. You can see the rear motor mount bolt like this.
