Rubber Dust Boots for front suspension

My front dust boots are coming apart and do we have to bring all the suspension out (including springs) to put a new set.

I intend to change my suspension sometime next year (short of money) but also not have to bring everything out to put the boots -- can anyone suggest an easy way to put new boots....

Also, can someone suggest some other dust boots other than OEM

I believe the only way to get em in is to take everything apart... you can get KYB dustboots for around $60 for all 4.

Man $60 bucks for some 4 rubber boots, man that's way to much. By the way I have a crack on mine also, it's front right one.
I think you can purchase some new stock ones for like 20+ bucks, use to find the site, there should be many different ones. rockauto.com is one of them.

Can one drive with steel beam exposed? That is my case the boots are torn into 2 pieces, and I am awfully scared to do this job on my own.

Can I buy some cheap boots, cut it vertically and cover the existing boots and use duct tape to tapeup the cut section for the timebeing? I don't want to take it to a shop to just change the boots as I intend to change the stock suspension sometime next year, shelling out $150-200 for the entire job seems reasonable but for just the boots, why?

Just drive with the boots as they are - make sure any disintegrating pieces are not affecting the strut piston travel. When you replace the suspension (struts/springs or whatever), get the new boots put on at that time. There is no need to pull the suspension just to replace the boots.
