got raped at the dealer today!!

so my 02 maxima has been at the dealer all weekend and monday and today i get a call at 1pm tellin me that my MAF sensor needs to be replaced.(car stalled out on sat and wouldnt stay runnin') Its gonna cost $500 to fix. so i tell her to fix it. long story short on my way home SES light comes on, i turn around and bring it back. check codes, she seems to think they got a bad batch of MAF sensors, could this be and is there a recall on the MAF sensors?

Not sure I've heard of any such recalls, although there are weaker MAFs out there in terms of the actual part number... but too bad ya didn't post here before taking it in.

Cheaper alternative using a 00-01 MAF here:

All the best....

yeah, you definitely should have gone with the 01 MAF...$500 is just rediculous...

i went into the dealer today as well to see about getting my timing advanced and the guy didn't even know what i was talking about at first, but then after a while he said "that's gonna run you $78" .... i asked him if he just pulled that out of his @$$ and he said that they would charge 2 hrs. labor for doing it!! for plugging a machine in for 2 minutes!!?? BAH!! stupid nissan stealers....

Didn't you buy your car like a week ago? Why wouldn't the dealer cover any of the costs being that they sold you the car such a short while ago? I would have been ps'd off if I bought a car and then had it back at the same dealer the following weekend. Let them know what's up!

The MAF bit is a common problem they can spill. Best thing is to be educated before you go there.

Boy, you got that right... My max wasn't shifting properly and had a sudden loss of power... I thought that it was a tranny problem, so I brought it to the dealership... they told me that it was the MAFS, and the part alone was $600 and that they had to reprogram my ECM for another $100... I told them to clean it.. they said that they couldn't and the car was now undrivable, couldn't go past 40km/h... so I was stuck... I've since talked with a few mechanics and found that it could have been cleaned with a q-tip and brake cleaner... here's a site I found when looking for info on MAFS...

Now onto my next problem... I have a "Service Engine Soon" light on my 2000 Max. The error code is PO155 for the O2 sensor heater? Do I simply replace the sensor?
