ABS, TCS Off, Slip Lights - No Codes Pulled

I went to autozone thinking it would be the ignition coils like everyone else, but it didn't pull any codes! The guy at autozone said that it doesn't read ABS problems, so I'm thinking it could be the ABS sensor.. or possibly the battery. (But I doubt it)

Any ideas suggestions? What can I do to troubleshoot the problem? I changed my front pads and rotors a couple weeks before the lights turned up, however they seemed to come up the day after very rigorous driving and I had to SLAM on my brakes while the ABS turned on.

It is an ABS sensor. I just changed an ABS sensor on a 2k1 Max today with those same lights on and pulled an ABS code with Consult II. Try to find someone that has a scanner with the capabilities of going into ABS to determine which sensor it is. It can be several things having to do with the ABS system. BTW, if you didn't know already, this doesn't affect your braking at all. You just don't have ABS. Good luck!!!

any particular shops that might have this sensor? Also how much is it roughly? I've heard numbers of around $300..?

It could be as simple as a fuse, or as bad as replacing the sensors...other times its just low system voltage

It might not be the ABS sensor itself. Check out this thread I started a few months a go. I had two problems: a blown 02 sensor and a bad ABS relay - not the sensor itself. I was quoted by the stealership $75 CDN parts and labour for the relay. I opted not to get it fixed though as the problem is sporadic and does not occur very often and they didn't have the part in stock.

damn, I think I might just go to the dealer and pay $95 diagnostic :\

I have also been hearing very annoying, quite loud squeaking that seems to have been coming from my back left tire.... only when cruising- when I apply the brakes it seems to go away, same thing when I apply e-brake. Any ideas?

xultra,

do you still get that 'clang' noise when the car start and the ABS do a self test ?

i have the same problems, all 3 lights are on (sporadic, not all the time), and i noticed that the 'clang' noise i used to hear from the self test is gone.

the stealership had it fixed... the said the rear abs sensor was gone, had it replaced, costed:

ABS sensor 47900-2Y060 CA$509 (about US$ 397)
Labor - 2 unit CA$127 (about US$ 99)
---------------------------
Total CA$636 (about US$496)

The strange vibration is from the rotor they said, had the pads replaced and rotors serviced, costed me additional several hundred dollars on top of the amount mentioned aboved.

The service manager said I did not have ABS anymore, and it is ok to drive around in summer, but could be crucial in icey Toronto in winter, guess I had no choice, so I broke the piggy bank and had them fixed. The TCS, ABS, SLIP lights are all gone, the one time clang-noise (from ABS self-test) came back everytime I start the car.

I had the same thing happend to me few months ago, it was and ABS sensor. I was able to get one from the salvage yard for 50$ and worked fine for me. The dealer was asking 569$ fora brand new. After I removed the defective ABS sensor, I cleaned up the magnet and put it back and was working fine as well so now I have a spare one.

Anyone?!!! Im going to the dealership monday i guess for this same ABS,TCS,Slip light problem. If its this wheel sensor im reading about, i dont see any reason that it wouldnt covered under warranty (one of the 6 things that ARE actually covered)

For future reference, the problem turned out to be a bad ABS Sensor, after takin it out and looking at it more closely, I probably could have used the original sensor by cleaning it a little more. But I called DaveB and had him send me a new one for ~$112. (2001)
