Hi all, I'm doing some research on behalf of a friend who owns a '01 Maxima SE. I'd like to know if there's a way for a consumer to program a new transponder using his/her original key transponder. I own a '02 Mazda Tribute, and I've been able to program a new transponder using my original 2 transponders. Is there a way for a Maxima owner to do the same without having to go to a dealer and get charged an arm and a leg? Thanks for any info!

here are the instructions on how to program the keyless entry remote..

close all doors and lock them,stick your key in the ignition at least 6 times within 10 seconds. The hazzard lights will blink, turn ignition to the acc position, press any key on the remote, and then the hazzard light should blink again, and then unlock driver's door.

 

If you mean the remote then above instructions answers it, but if you mean the actualy key, I think a stealership visit is needed.
