perhaps this is a stupid question, and I'm missing something obvious...but what is the point of having HIDs in the reverse lights, since they are really not on all that often? Most people (me not included) don't even bothering changing their reverse bulbs to Polargs or PIAAs (which cost like $20), so would people pay alot more than that for HID reverse lights?

perhaps designing an integrated rear fog light for the maxima would be a more useful/practical application....just a thought....not flaming.

that, and one can get basically the same effect using Polarg M6 bulbs in the reverse lights

HID sounds a bit overkill. 35W halogen is alright I guess, but that isn't as intensive.

Irish

Is the output (on the road at night) really that great out of a reverse reflector? You should post some night pics and not just of the light its self.

Just seems kinda wasteful to me.

:edit: Wow, this post got big while I was typing!

These are for people like myself who run DARK (13% is not dark, 10% is not dark...im talking less than 5% light transmission here) tint and wish to be able to reverse without having to roll windows down.

De-basing an H3 bulb will yield the same results. I've seen it done on a 5th gen.

Arnold, I think you really should just mount one of these on the back:

175 watts of backing-up visibility

I'm not seeing the point of this reverse HID at all. Even if one could use it as a foglight, wouldn't that be annoying as hell to the drivers behind you??

I agree with Irish 100%, besides how often do you back up in a real DARK area that you cannot see S$it. I don't know but to me it wil be a waste of money....

Yeah, those sound cool! I can't wait for the HID dome light, or the HID guage lights, or the HID mirror lights, or the HID map lights, or the other interior HID super hot white lights. I'll probably have to run my A/C on high though so I don't cook myself in my easy-bake car. Not even double super duper dark limo tint will prevent outsiders from seeing my super cool rice-a-roni mobile. Awsome!

P.S. Lets get moving on those HID side marker lights too, so I can blind those coffee can muffler rice-a-roni driving kweers.

I can see the usefulness. With my tint I cant see **** when I back up. I may very well buy these if the price is right and I know a few other people that will too.
