we're finishing a Jeep Projector. If that goes well, we'll see about doing this project.

i agree with the general concensus that the Hid lights are a little over the top, but to be fair, why do we put on half the stuff we have on our cars? (body kits, ddes, spoiler, strobes etc) its for the look and bragging rights. I'm sure if we saw these on someones car in real life, we'll go bonkers just like we would for a bunch of other mods, then go home and sleep it off. The fact of the matter is, these people run a buisness, and with every functional buisness, there is planning involved way ahead of the product. I'm sure they got a consumer agreement from somewhere that yes, we would love to buy hid reverse lights. Though it might not be our own opinion, the fact is there are people willing to shell out money for these and as they say, "the customer is always right"

as for a new product idea, how about a design for led tails for the 5th gen?

While I generally agree with you statements, I think the HID reverse light thing is different since it could blind people behind you. I think it's annoying enough when I am driving behind a German import and they have that rear foglight on even when it's not foggy, imagine that being HID.

I keep hearing this, how often are you people directly behind someone in reverse. Do you guys drive backwards in lines or something. I cant remember the last time I looked at someones reverse lights while they were on.

If you look at the BMW pic Umnitza posted, there is one reverse light that is HID. This is typically the foglight on BMW's, Benz, Audi. I remember when I first got my Audi I kept on thinking one of my brakelights was out until I realized my rear fog-light was on.
As far as not seeing too many reverse lights, you must not get out much because whenever I'm in a parking lot, people are reversing out of their spots. Coincidently, their reverse lights are on....

so...I'm ignorant because I don't have angel eyes on my maxima. Oh no!! Not that!! I guess I'll be ignorant when I don't have pointless HID reverse lights too

oh wait, I forgot this isn't a discussion forum....I forgot all of us have to say "wow, that's kewl" to every new mod that comes out and follow along like little sheep...sorry.... If you can't handle the fact that people might not like something you make, you should probably be in a different business...

Yes but are you ever directly behind them? HIDs arent going to blind you when someone is pulling out typically you are not right behind them, or there is a problem.

If it's a bright HID light, why do you assume it wouldn't annoy someone even if they aren't right behind it? It's not exactly a concentrated beam shooting out in one specific direction. And why I am arguing with you? If you like the idea, go for it when it's released. I just don't think it's worth putting in an HID reverse light. That is all.

All you guys are saying that these are unnecessary overkill. Of course they are. So are 19" rims, 5% tint and everything else we do. That is why we do it. Does anyone really need DVD screens in the headrests, shiny tires or even HIDs in the headlights? Not really. We got by for how long with regular old headlight bulbs. I like a brighter reverse light myself, so I got Polargs. HIDs would be even nicer (or is that ricer?), but the price is a little steep for me. I'd like to see a nighttime comparison, maybe even with light ouput data. And I'd like to see an install difficulty description.

If it's that much, I'm just going to get the Nightvision camera for my reverse view.

STILL waiting on pics of night output on the road.

Umnitza, how long have you been testing these. I just have my doubts on bulb life especially for auto trans owners. As Im sure you know, every time an auto shifts in to drive it has to go past reverse. This would start to ignite the bulb only to be turned right off. This knid of thing is hard on an HID system.

Maybe a half second delay would be an answer
