Mine just started doing this recently. Haven't had much time to check, but the steering doesn't seem to be affected in any way. I was thinking sway bar link, or something else in the front suspension.

Check your CV-Joint. Look for leaking grease around the boot.

is this with the wheel turned all the way to MAX when turning ? If so, lube up your limiter studs that are part of the knuckle. There is a Bolt with a plastic cap (it wears off and falls of exposing just the bolt end) that hits the controll arm when turned all the way to left or right, this end needs to be lubricated or you will get grinding noises when going over bumps like driveway inclines and turning.

CV joint could make this noise, but not at this low of a speed- drive way speeds. My pass side axle would make a ratcheting noise when making left hand turns at higher speeds, and the boot looked like new even with 100K miles. I ended up getting new axles and tranny thanx to Nissan for free.

In my case, yes. The noise occurs only at full left steering lock, and is more noticable/pronounced when going up/down a small incline like my driveway. In reverse, I'll occasionally hear a metallic 'crunk' sound when I hit the bottom of the incline.
