Catalyst below efficiency level

OK, I did a serach and could not find it so here goes.

2000 SE Cali Spec, 72,000, Stillen Y pipe (bank 1 has not precat, bank 2 has a precat) since 30K miles and plugs and coils changes at 50,000 miles and both bank one O2 sensors changed between 55-60K miles along with MAF- cars is running fine. Also, forgot to mention, but the ECU was reprogrammed at 24,000 miles.

At about 70K miles the SES light comes on and the code is P0430 Catalyst System Effeciency- bank 2. I do a reset with an OBDII scanner and all is ok. About 71,000 miles same code reappears and again at approximately 72,000 miles. I keep doing resets and the SES light randomly comes back on every 1000+ miles. I put Redline cleaner in the gas the first time it happened.

Is this a bank 2 O2 sensor problem (even thought it is not flagged as an O2 problem) or am I going to have to change the bank 2 precat, or is it ok to just reset everytime it comes on?

basically it's saying the precat isn't working.

does the stillen Y pipe remove the precats?

I'm having the same issue on my 240SX, but I gutted the precat on it a year ago.. took about 10k miles before the CEL came on, but now it comes back on every few hundred miles.

The precat is still on bank 2, the Cali spec y pipe removes bank 1, but leaves bank 2.

I had the same problem about 3 months ago. SES came out twice with the same code, or even three times, went away by itself. This weekend while replacing clutch, i took off front catalyst, (left one - I have Calis spec too) and the mesh inside looked fine. No problems with it whatsoever, just a few tiny holes were clogged. I cleened it with air, some yellow dust came out and I put the thing back in. I think its the O2 sensor thats no good.
