why there is there is a 2-3 sec delay? and how to overcome

for those who knows a lot about our engine, my question is ( I try to described it, my english wasn't that good!)

1) there is a 2-3 seconds delay everytime I floor the gas pedal (auto trans) and same for the gear downshift to lower gear, it was like the power kick in 2-3 sec after I floor the pedal
2) any part replace or any mod to overcome this issue

thanks guys

2-3 seconds? Sounds like your transmission may be slipping (if that's not an exageration).

If the hesitation is actually less than 2-3 seconds, there is a TSB for it IIRC. Check the stickies.

sometimes the computer wonders if you really wanted to press the gas or not. i've had that happen when i floor it by accident.. i backed off a few times before it actually delivered the gas and it seemed to remember that.

it still does it instantly when i really push it though.

electrics.. the TSB is slightly different but without driving yours i can't say. could be normal, could be the problem

How many miles are on your car now and what has been done for maintenance?

How many miles were on the car when you got it? Also, i'm geussing this has been a problem since you've owned it?

After driving many different 4th gen vq's with varying miles and conditions, I've found that the better the car is running the firmer the part throttle 1-2 & 2-3 shifts are. How does your car accelerate from a dead stop? How does it shift into second compared to the first shift on a cold morning?

I'm asking these questions because I'm suspecting you have something causing a power loss. Easiest way to know if it's just the way the car is or if somethings wrong is to show up at a few car dealers who have a car like yours, just don't show up in your own car, but show up in some kind of expensive car so they don't make you talk bottom line BEFORE the test drive. If you show up in a tri-colored '87 Buick Century with no back window there going to make you fill out a credit app before and thats a big hassle.

I got 2k GLE also and I was running on SCer, I had all the preparation and all but still blew my tranny. Like SEmy2K3Go said it sounds like tranny slipping, which I really hope not, when my tranny was slipping like that in the beginning I didn't think it was anything major but there was a slite delay shifting from 2nd to 3rd and at the worst case ur gonna loose ur reverse gear so I strongly suggest that u get that checked out. Since I was running SCer I did have all the bolt ons and Yes, I did have VB mod also.

yeah i feel my car is a bit slow sometimes on the take off. When i changed my air filter, i can see the inside of my maf. it was dirty. I wonder if that is the problem which is causing my slow auto reactions to the gas pedal..... how do you actually clean that? Has anyone done this before?

Samething is happening to my car... but Im planning to get a new MAF because I suspect that the old MAF is the problem. Seems like it all really hit me when I got my aftermarket intake on so I could have damagaed the MAF when i switched intakes... hopefully a new MAF can solve the problem but I would definately try the MAF first if it's a hesitation under 2 or 3 seconds... over 2 or 3... your tranny is gone... good luck!

Its the TCM... go to a dealer and have them reprogram it for under $100.

Sometimes the air conditioner(heat/cool) can affect engine response in that way. Example: In the middle of the summer I had the air on and floored it so I could pass a couple cars when there was a slight (1 or 1&1/2 sec) hesitation before the power kicked in. So with the air off this time I turned onto another road and floored it again without experiencing any hesitation. Also note, without the conditioner on there was an expected increase in power as well.
