Aftermarket Side mirror?

I had an incident with my drivers side mirror, I'm gonna need a new one. Has anyone ever used one of them aftermarket ones you get on ebay? Does the original oem painted cover fit fine on the aftermarket mirror??

I'm interested to know this too. Also, is there a significant decrease in quality?

Don't be fooled. They are just plastic mirrors that are made to look like carbon fiber.

Notice they also come in black which actually might look a little better if you didn't plan on getting them painted.

Thanks to everyone that's replied so far.

Does anyone have experience with any of the TYC OEM-Replacement Aftermarket mirrors? I need to replace my Driver Side (Love parking on the street!), and there is a chunk taken out of my Pass Side, so I figure I'll convert to heated mirrors.

One big question I have is whether the painted piece of our stock mirrors will insert into the aftermarket mirrors. Anyone have any experience?

Also, looks like you can get those aftermarket mirrors for cheap. I found Power/Heated for as little as $33. http://www.discountautomirrors.com/c...W4a8a6cf08b08f

Personally, I don't have any experience with aftermarket mirrors, and would like to know if anyone else has.

Was lucky

Since the quality of aftermarket parts varies greatly, I can only speak from my own experience:

Bought an aftermarket replacement passenger side sideview mirror, unheated, for my old '97 GXE about 5 years ago for $45.00, shipped. Don't recall who the vendor was. (I'll check my records later and will update this message if I can find the receipt)

It was all black plastic but was paintable, visually identical to the original and held up fine. Was an exact fit, always worked, had no more wind noise than original and did not leak.

That being said, over time the plastic oxidized (got hazy) more than the original but Mother's Color-Black or Turtlewax Ice would help restore the finish.

Hope this helps.
